We Maxdmyz, are playing with avoidence of doubt at egg before synthetic culture. gig price includes club entry for £6. I'm just wondering if there is a conflict that anyone knows of??????

im in a band called atom collision.

and the fact is if you play covers you belong in pubs. if you play originals, you belong to be a rockstar playing at download. well, work you way up to that anyway.[8D]

Theres no money to be made in selling music anymore, thats why major record lables are pushing trends out to silly little girls and boys and buying headlining spots at download. Simple :)

Its allright i guess, Just to make a point though Thrash Metal influnced by Black metal (Black thrash, zing) Is a real genre of music. Check out Aura Noir and Absu for pointers.

Hi there.
We had a convo the other night in some random pub in Yorkshire about the state of British Metal and what we can do to help it. We are noticing more and more promoters out there with the same intent on getting metal heard but no one is working or networking with each other - no one is thinking ohhh there is another Metal pub gig on the same night we want to do ours.. no one is thinking hmmm ok lets do a different night - they are just going ahead with the gig and spliting the crowd instead of working together for the same result. We are arranging a big meet in our area of promoters - journos - bands - labels - Fans - media etc and have us all talk about how we can get Metal more prolific in our area and how we can all pool our resources - contacts and leads to put on metal shows that will attract the fans.

Are there any bands on these message boards that are experiencing the trudge of travelling 4 hours to play to a few ppl and wondering what the hell has gone wrong and want to do something about this?

I'll do what I can to help, contact me through a PM or though my MySpazz and we'll sort something out.

yea im in a metal band were called new disease[8D] and were from corby we hav our own place were all the local bands go and play but these days its all just ****ty little emo band ruining our moshing and headbanding wiv dancing around shoes and slitting the own wrists so i say HELL NO TO EMO!!![:@]

We play all over the UK and yeah we spend a lot of time driving down the motorway at like 5am going, "well that was worth it wasn't it?"... BUt I guess you gotta take the rough with the smooth... We also play some outstanding gigs, both in our local city of Manchester and all over the UK...  We just don't go back to places where we know the promoters are ****....

Good thread man!  yeah, the general apathy to realy live music is a really hard thing to deal with as a band. Its seems that no one gives a **** about good music unless they've heard your name somewhere. Which, to be fair, is understandable. Of course there are exceptions to this, but driving a few hours to a venue to find that very little though has been put into the night, and even less promotion done is a very frustrating! You get to know which promoters put the effort in though i guess,

If we can help in anyway - we'd love to play a show or 2! - or even put on some of the bands here in Rugby (where we're getting fairly regular 60-100 attendance, upto 200 on a good night though) - if we can, we shall.

When I have a bit of time I think I will start to put the bands in some sort of order - by region and see if we can hook some of you guys up.. Seems you can all help each other and this maybe a good way of doing it :)

   

I live in Kent at the moment and might be able to help with getting bands gigs in our university union... You'd be playing to a bunch of students like but at least your guranteed a crowd.

I completely agree that there should be more metal bands but we are all trying so hard to get noticed we are shutting others out and i think we should all band together and work as 1,

In my town metal is none as people are getting in each others way and im a singer but there are no bands around and no one wants to work together which sucks.

I'm starting to take an interest in recording my own playing. But for now I think I'd rather do it on my own that try to get a band together.
 
I'd like to learn how to use programming and sampling and things as well but have no idea where to start.
 
So for now, it's no. But for the forseeable future if anything DOES emerge, the 'band' would still only be me.

Im in a crazy litle band that have just started up called The Quietly Screaming. Though the name suggests we're EMO we aint.

I'm in a band called Beta Blocks. Me and the bassist have been playing together since high school but because of me going to uni in a different city and other issues we've never really got our act together.

Since I'm gonna be done with uni in a week or so I'm hoping to move in with the bassist, get our (lethal) drummer back on board and start gigging seriously as soon as possible.
