I'm in Black River Project and we gig wherever the hell we can! Some towns have a good live scene some have absolutely no live scene whatsoever but you have to get up and do your thing... The way that we see it is that the day you start trying to pick and choose the "best" gigs is the day you start believing that you are "too good" to play places which is the slippery slope to an Axl rose attitude... and we've all seen that with the odd unsigned band we've gigged with before
 
Anyhoo... There are really good gigs and scenes out there so just keep at it!

...yeh we gig pretty regularly usually (except at the mo, we are writing some new stuff) and I agree - there is nothing worse then travelling huge distances to recieve poor sound that doesnt represent your band fairly...and a poor turn out that doesnt justify the trip in the first place. We are based in Skelmersdale near Liverpool. Liverpool turn outs are always hit and miss I've found from experience...

Hey folks.

My names Michael. I'm a drummer formerly of Size and with my current band Chemical Threat and we're based out of Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Having been playing live for 13 years i understand the frustrations people have in trying to get some good metal gigs and club nights together, especially when you travel across the country at great cost to play for 6 people and a dog. I know cos i've done it many times.

I have a few venue contacts in Southend and i can try and hook people up with gig swaps and a bit of local promotion for out of town bands.

Myself and my band mates would be very interested in being part of a network across the UK involving as many bands, promoters and venues as possible as something on that scale could only benefit the genre as a whole.
