Buy British  - this forum is designed to promote and inform you of what is happening in Britian music wise – our own home grown rock and metal bands and up coming talent. Obviously we want to be able to open this up to all UK bands but we have to draw the line at some degree and we have not decided where that will be yet. Surfice to play you must have played a few gigs at least - not just picked up your first guitar. If we get a big demand to promote these bands then It might be that we will start a section off in this forum to promote them and their dates/ tours and as they grow we will do what we can to also keep the buzz going on here.
 
We have noticed for a long time on the boards that there are many incidents that people just keep saying ‘ start supporting British bands’ ‘support our festivals’. Well this is designed to do just that. We will have Q&A sessions with bands – we will start a thread to compile messages for a set band and present them direct to the bands. We hope to have some of the band members come onto the forum from time to time to update you all and chat to you about what is going on in their world.
We are looking at maybe having a daily blog when they are on the road – if they can get to the internet and keep people updated of the on tour antics.
 
For now this is locked to you adding new threads as we are growing it and need to be able to see how it is compiling also we do not want threads disappearing down the pages as every band in the UK joins in. We do want to have some control – but if you have a band or festivals that want  to put some time into making this work with us – that wants to promote some dates – release dates for albums or the like then please pm or email one of the mods.
 
If you guys have any ideas for this forum then please pm us - are you interested in having an online session asking the bands about tips etc ? Do you want to have a section promoting venues in the UK ? Do you want a network area so venues and bands can start to work with each other and find supports and venues in set areas ? All these kind of ideas are muchly appreciated.

Just to reiterate;

Please do not spam the threads up, go off topic, etc. The threads are not there for bands to be slagged off - this is for postive feedback. Other areas on the board exist where the relative merits of the bands can be discussed. Any arguments that develop will be deleted without warning.

Use this thread for feedback regarding this forum, and the format of the threads.

If you wish to put forward a band, please make a page in a similar style to the ones we have started, with the relevent info. Please use forum formatting (if you send it in a PM, we'll be able to cut and paste what you've sent straight in.) If the band in question is not touring nationally, or has not yet recorded an album/ep, please hold off until they are/have. Also, it is preferable if a member of the band will be available for Q&A's (via email) or to post in the thread itself.

If the band is not playing out of it's local area (i.e. You're a midlands band and you're only playing within 20/30 miles of Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Kidderminster etc) please use the regional sections. Once they are touring on a more national basis drop us a line and we'll promote your thread to the national forums. Please don't ask for inclusion unless you can meet this requirement, as we hate saying no....

Please also - if a band is recording albums only and never tours we wont be adding you to this section - this section works best if you're able to get out and meet/play to the people who might see your thread.

This is such a brilliant idea, and I hope the people of the Download boards get behind it and can find out about some UK bands that they might not have heard about before due to lack of coverage elsewhere... :)

Great idea

This is great, me and my band have always wanted know what the people on here think about us. So far it feels like most people are into what we are doing! Also this may give small bands like Vocis (my band) to gig with bigger bands and to get around more putting their cities on the map!

We will help with this! Cant wait for it to take shape.

I think this is a brilliant idea. Seeing as I don't read most of the rock magazines anymore, and tend to get most my news from Blabbermouth, which is American, I tend to miss out on most of the new British bands. It'll be nice to check out some new stuff from our own fair Isles for a change.

This is a great idea, hopefully it should give British bands coverage they don't always get elsewhere.
