Every year I've worn hair extensions. As they're glue ins, I don't brush or fiddle with them during my festival time except dry shampoo my roots, which makes my hair extensions matte together into dreads. I believe there is too much going on at Download to worry or take an hour doing your hair in the morning. Many times at Download I've cared too much about my hair looking perfect by bringing straighteners and taking ages to get ready which caused me missing bands. The cavewoman dread look is pretty hot too! I do care about my hair getting wet. My real hair will go curly and my extensions will remain straight, not a good look. I carry a bin bag with me, so if it rains I can wrap the bag around my hair like a high maintenance tramp. It fits in your bag perfectly and it's obviously waterproof.

Hey guys, I have a whole load of synth that I was gonna make into dreads last year but never got round to.... it's good stuff, 100% kanekalon from buy-hair (I think) anyway I've got 9 or 10 bags each (unopened, and probably one opened as well) of bright orange and lime green. If anyone wants them, I'll accept any offers as they're taking up sooo much space!

I seen this pic on dreadlockshop. How do you get the little braids looking so neat? They also have a youtube channel but the video of installing braids doesn't end up looking half as nice as this

Sazzarella i think thats a box braid, google that technique and it should tell you. By all accounts it's pretty tricky and best done by somebody else as it's a pain to keep as uniform and neat if doing it yourself with mirrors :)

synthetic dreads certainly solve the problem of festival hair but they are pretty heavy if your not used to them...and quite annoying too lol i wore them in 2009 and it was really hot and they bugged me heaps, they were itchy on my skin and hot and heavy. if your not used to them id put them in long before download and see how you get on with them try them in for a weekend! :) they are also a pain in the as sto get up in a pont tail, best thing to use for it is one of those material hairbands on the dry shampoo note......you get a good one called blush at tesco, it also comes in a mini so good for in your bag :)

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, PVA glue mixed with water is an old school punk favourite, my ex used to just straighten it then douse it in an entire can of hairspray!

All of the dreads on here look awesome :) I was wondering if it would be plausible to somehow weave the synthetic hair into a big-ass french plait? I'm thinking low-maintenance mermaid!

Is there definitely going to be hair straighteners this year somewhere? I don't mind paying for them but I have really thick hair which is in between straight and way so I would really rather not just leaving it like that! :P I know at Sonisphere it was £3 to use the luxury loos which included make-up mirrors, hairdryers and straighteners and damn worth the money to do it twice over the weekend, made me feel human again! Do they have these at Download? I haven't been since 2009 and I don't remember seeing them then....

They do indeed have the luxury toilets which include straighteners and they've had the hairdryer n straightener block next to the showers for the past 2 years so I reckon SOMEWHERE you will be safe to find a pair, as I am in the exact same position as you and I have le faith!

The self service hairdryer and straighteners next to the showers were an absolute rip off. Thank goodness for luxury loos. They were there last year so I'll be surprised if they're not this year!
