A quick tip I picked up from my brothers girlfriend about a good way of getting rid of a hangover quickly is Dioralyte! It's a medicine that is used to replace lost fluids and electrolytes if a person has had acute diarrhoea. (lovely I know)
It comes in little sachets, which you mix up with water, drink and away you go!

I haven't tried it myself, as I never seem to suffer from hangovers, but a lot of people I know have taken it the morning after the night before, and feel a lot better in a fast amount of time :)

I think you can buy it in Boots or any other pharmacy, there's a link below with details of how it works, etc etc.
I'd suggest reading it if you're interested in using it next year, as it does have cautionary details in there aswell.

    I must say add asthma
i carry both inhalers in my left pocket and leave two in locker and my m8 carrys one for me. the last thing you need is to get caught short and out of breath. and it always helps if someone else needs to use them (washed after use) but its not a nice feeling fighting for breath.

Most of this is common sense but common sense is easy to forget in festival situations, also you can pretty much talk to anyone at download so if something is wrong just ask a fellow downloader!

One of those small bottles of hand cleaning/sterilizing gel in your pocket goes a long way. It is small and weighs nothing.Clean hands after every toilet trip, before every meal, etc etc it will go a long way to help prevent any stomache type upsets and it self dries about £1 a bottle

I'm going to second the rehydration sachets. They're so good.

Also, I agree...hand sanitizer is a great thing.

One thing I would like to say is that if you are worried about anything, go to the first aid tent. They were fabulous when I needed them and was carted off to hospital. They are very helpful if you really need them! Also, if you have any muscle problems, take some deep heat with you as you can't get it from the medicine truck!

One thing I wouldnt advise however, is crutches at a festival!

But make sure the inhaler they are using is the same doseage as what they normally take. I am on high strength Seritide due to me being me. It wouldn't cause major harm but something to be aware of.
However for example if i was to use someones who is on 50mg doses, i'd take 5 shots of it compared to 1.
While you can't overdose on Ventolin (blue inhaler to non asthmatics), it's good to know that you can take 2 puffs, every minute for as long as required. If it continues seek urgent medical assistance obviously.
Don't give asthmatics asprin or any other blood thinner. Reducing the amount of oxygen flowing round their body isn't a good thing!

I burn really bad in the sun and dont always forget to put on suncream all day when I'm drinking. Any ideas on some kind of big hat or something to cover my face?

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

with regards to cpr... personally, i would recommend watching this and memorising it.

this is the latest recommendations. if you hear a crunch then you have probably broken a rib or two but trust me the person will much rather have a broken rib than not be alive.

p.s: i love this advert. and the song is easy to remember too.

the main thing which has been repeated but i will repeat it again anyway is to get help. your first course of action should be to send someone to get help.
second important thing!!! very important!!! be aware of the risk to yourself. example: if the person is holding on to an electric wire, touching them may put you in the same position so please take care. ALWAYS ASSESS YOUR SURROUNDINGS  BEFORE APPROACHING THE CASUALTY. (sorry for shouting but it's very important).

                    hope that helps??

                      Hi guys and gals,

I was hoping for some advice...
I have already purchased my 2013 ticket, of course as I can't wait for another Download Festival. But I have just found out I am pregnant, yeah!!!!!!!!! I have been trying for a while now and I am over the moon.
But... I am very keen to do Download! Has anyone been in this situation? Or does anyone have any advise for me?
I will have a large group of friends and family with me. And my days of moshing are over and have been for a couple of years, I have become a 'sit back with a beer and enjoy the band' girl now. Obviously without the beer now
Obviously come June, I will see how I'm feeling as I may not want to go, but as it stands I am very eager to enjoy another download (without children) and I'll be sure to get them started at an early stage

                      Thanks all!!

                        Evening all,

I plan on heading to Download this year having not been since 2008! However I'm now a mother and breastfeed my son (I will be away from him from Wednesday through to Monday I guess).
I wondered if any other mothers had attended the festival and expressed milk? How did you go about it? I look forward to explaining to whoever checks my bag what exactly my pump is used for, ha!

                        Cheers for any comments!

Congrats, I;ve read posts about being pregnant at download before and they say the main things are to stay hydrated, shelter at midday (ha, if we have sun) and i read somewhere that if you have a doctors letter confirming you are pregnant if there is room they will allow you in the disabled area, (less crowds and raised platform) also flat shoes and a small stool to sit on may help :)

I went last year, after having my baby in the November, I had stopped breastfeeding at that point, but there was that constant worry of my little baby not being with her mother the whole time, I couldn't enjoy myself as much, but this year she is a bit older and my partners family have a lot more experience with her now so I wont be AS worried. But if you are pregnant I would try and avoid bumping into people as much as possible, plenty of water and flat shoes, bring a camping chair AND maybe a airbed?

I'm not much help but never mind, I tried :)

Its always worth putting on some sunblock even if the weather is crap. Last year given the poor weather I didnt bother with sunblock and really suffered when the sun suddenly came out on sunday.

I'm probably the only one going with a Slipped disc - yes you did read that right!! Did it two years ago, been to several gigs with it, twice I had to go in the disabled bay at Newcastle Academy. Back will never get better.

Shouldn't imagine this'll affect many D/L goers, apart from a few oldsters maybe, but dont forget your Glyceryl Trinitrate spray if you've been given one for heart problems.

regarding sunburn, this is a pretty handy product:

                                    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Calypso-Once-Day-Prote-SPF30/dp/B00B5EEOES/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1366268931&sr=8-4&keywords=once+a+day+sun+protection

If you use this in the morning and then occasionally top up with normal sun-tan lotion (if you are particularly pale) you should be fine.
