Rags... - yeah not heard of Baccano! or Rizelmine, checked em out though, like the look of Baccano!, will try and watch some tonight if i have time,
cant say Rizelmine is my kind of thing though, seems to be thousands of similar animes, watched a couple before and really enjoyed them but they do get tiring

Glad you like Baccano! It's such a great story with brilliant characters! Let me know if you need any of the episodes coz it was only a limited series!

Well, that is the most sickeningly Americanized trailer I've seen.  And what is it with Disney, their name is all over it, I bet most people wouldn't even know it's a Studio Ghibli film. I hate what Disney have done to Studio Ghibli, I wish they would go back to using Streamline for their English dubs, they were far superior.

Currently watching XXXHOLiC:Shunmuki, enjoying quite abit too. Watanuki has the some of the most hilarious mannerisms. Really enjoy how the characters interlace with the characters on Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, they're completely different styles of animes but it just so interesting to see how the characters are connected.

Baccano! is something I wanted to watch for a while, better get to it and finally check it out.

                  lmao.

Yeah, I watched some weird things when I was like just getting into anime, don't want to remember them, some anime is so fucked up though. xD

I've not really been watching or reading anything tbh, too addicted to City of Heroes atm. >_<
I still need to catch up with One Piece and Bleach, although I was going off Bleach, too much "RARRR! I'MA KILL YOU! *PEWPEWpew*" and not enough humour.

If anyone found any newish anime shows that's quite funny or really gory / scary post it up. Ooh that reminds me, gotta catch up with the new Fullmetal Alchemist. [>:]

i was alittle young but i had already seen alot of 18+ horror movies and stuff as my parents loved watching them and i always begged to stay up and watch too.

i still to this day cant believe i had a nightmare about watching jaws when i was 4 but not alien the same year, i remember screaming jaws is coming through the window as it was very late so dark and it was the classic thunder and lightning, but jaws coming through the 1st floor window, well [8D]

Must ask you wonderful anime fans, what films/series would be good starters for someone that hasn't gotten into it all that much?

I've only got Afro Samurai, Afro Samurai:Resurrection, Sky Blue, My Friend Totoro.

and my friend is really adamant i try Elfen Lied?

Any you would recommend that are similar to these?
or they can be completely different.

Well for violent / weird stuff Elfen Lied is a good one, it's a bit gory though.
You might like Fullmetal Alchemist as well.

Heres a few you can try, Excel Saga, Gantz, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Vampire Hunter D, Blood: The last vampire, Blood+, Chaos;HEAD, Akira(classic [8D]), Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Gunslinger Girl.

Hm, thats all I can think of right now, there's loads you might like if you do some searches on the net. Just put something like violent/action/weird anime and you'll end up with something I guess.

Oh, I forgot, I have links to all the Fullmetal Alchemist episodes in English subtitles if anyone wants them, took me ages to find a while ago.

Does anyone have any new animes to watch? (as in just come out) Preferably non slasher/gore or ermm ...hentai(hooperman06). Just something with good characters and a decent plot would really do.

Gary_CoL_Fan - yeah Elfen Lied is really good, out of what Blixium said would definately recommend Blood+ and Hellsing, two of my favourites, though i would say to avoid Blood the last vampire, sure it looked pretty good but otherwise Saya (lead character) was badly illustrated and the storyline was awful, really those forty minutes of my life back[8D]

also as Defected Monkey said Black Lagoon is good, really lookin forward to the third series

dagger_crest - you should try play.com for anime, tends to be a lot cheaper there, managed to get GITS:SAC series 1 for a third of the price in hmv[X(]

Rags... - yeah finished it last night, really was brilliant

gonna see if i can find Boogiepop Phantom later since its supposed to be similar, anyone recommend it?

Oh, I didn't even realise I put Blood the last vampire up, haha. Yeah, It's pretty boring. All she does is save some old woman ._. It's just like a long episode of Vampire princess Miyu, without Miyu. >_>

                                    This thread's good, interesting.

Gonna be posting once I've read all the pages to catch up though :P

I haven't seen many anime films in years, other than re-watching the old ones that I love. For personal reasons, I just didn't. If I see good recommendations, that might inspire me though...which made me think...the OP could perhaps put together a list of recommendations that everyone submits. That way there's just a list we can work through watching.

....Or put everyones myanimelist link on the op? Think the last.fm & games thread do something similar.

It'd be pretty cool to find out what kind of animes folks on here rate. How does that sound?

                                        Yeah, good idea.
I can do something like that and add some rate stars or something and split the anime into genre sections and then a manga section under all the anime.
First post will be quite big lolol.
