Robbie Keane's a hopeful signing. Definitely passed his best, would of been a good signing 2 years ago. He may bag us a few goals though so it can't hurt to have another natural goalscorer for a few months for next to nothing in price

You'll like this then.

I'm not against the signing. If anything I'm more for it than anything. I just don't think he'll be anything spectacular whilst he's with us and we could be looking at better targets.

Should have got him at 19 before whilst he was still at Wolves. Mind you, Doug Ellis is the one to blame for that simply because he didn't want to match Coventry's offer at the time, would have been great for you over the years.

Other than our goal, our best chance of scoring was Stephen Warnock forcing Given to make an amazing save...

I think I'd fall back in love with Villa if Albrighton, Bannon and Gardner all really stepped it up. I love it when a reserve player comes through good

Unlucky lads. Still it's seen that Gary Gardner step up to the first team so it's paid dividends in one way at least already.

Aye, the lads totally outplayed Marseille last night, but I think playing infront of such a large crowd might have put them under too much pressure.
Had a goal wrongly given offside too apparently.

              I think we'll win tomorrow.

I also think that when Herd comes back, he should come in as a right back, he has all the attributes to be a good right back but I feel he lacks the technical ability in centre midfield.

Mcleish uncertain whether he'll extend Heskey's contract and will decide at the end of the season. Hope he goes.

I never rated Shorey that highly but I'm giving up on Warnock now. I loved him when he was challenging Baines for the No. 2 left back in the England squad but sigh he's just loosing it now.
Definitely need a re-jigg of the defense, some thing needs to change. We're scoring more goals now, Bent has put a few more away now so hopefully he can continue from that and we just need to tighten up the back and we'll start turning draws into wins.
I thought Mcleish was meant to be great defensively ?

Seems like years since I've posted in here, haven't got the internet at my house, so I only get a breif online appearance every weekend. I went to the QPR game midweek, would've let you know Dave but I've got a new number as of a couple of weeks ago and didn't have thy internet. Pretty good performance for my return to Villa Park though, promising if anything. Looked sharp and created a lot of chances. The only glaring negative was, of course, our defence. How we managed to be 2-0 down is beyond me.

And our mate Warnock was in inspired form.

Just a couple of things. I genuinely think we can get a win tomorrow at Newcastle, and Stevie Ireland will be at the centre of it. I'm so happy he's showing his previous form, I was so excited when we signed him, and had faith he'd come good for so, so long. Just as that faith started to wain he's come through, and I'm delighted. Hopefully he'll be here for a long time, and the only way is up for the lad.

Also, Bent. You star. Similar with Stevie really, just as I began to lose faith, he's turned it around. Hoping the same for Warnock, but I feel that'd be a step to far though.

                          While I'm here, may as well write an essay. Just been looking at our fixtures, and although I think we can win, a loss tomorrow and a loss next week to Man City will really not be a problem. It's the following weeks after that where we will make or break our season;

                          Wigan (A)
                          Blackburn (A)
                          Fulham (H)
                          Bolton (H)

Not saying we WILL, but we CAN and arguably should beat all of those teams. Worst case scenario we should at least take 6 or 7 points, and that'd pretty much see us safe. And then we can look up!

Well, this was fun. Reply, or not, as you will and I shall be back to reflect on our win at Newcastle tomorrow, next weekend. UTV.

If you finish above us, I'll eat my shoe and wear a Villa shirt for the entire season. That's how confident I am.

I was in Upper Holte, whereabouts is your season ticket? I said it was empty to my brother, but he had his Villa-tinted glasses on and blamed it on being midweek and really cold.

Two-thirds up the Lower Holte, out of about the usual people around me, there were about 9 ST holders missing!

Even though it has been a fairly poor year at home this year, I do think I'm going to miss it so much next season!

Watched the game today, totally agree with you about Hutton and Warnock. Warnock took a ****ing beating  Neither of them did a fat lot wrong all game, keep it that way. Agree with you about Gardener, could of pulled us back into it with that shot outside the box if it went anywhere but down the keeper's throat.
Heskey though, don't have a clue where you're getting that from though mate.
Keane played well in the first half, quality through ball to Bent who couldn't finish, and was linking up with Ireland nicely.
Why he took Ireland off is beyond me, I heard that Ireland told Mcleish to "**** off" which if true, well that'll do it wont it Getting seriously tired of Mcleish's reign.

I'm going on the fact that before Heskey came on, we ere getting battered for 10 minutes, and we just hoofing the ball up, and Bent didn't stand a chance winning the ball, N'Zogbia was having a poor half too. Was an obvious substitution in my eyes.

Aye, I think McLeish wasn't happy with Ireland falling asleep for their 1st goal.

I wouldn't put that final 10 minutes of pressure down to Heskey being on the pitch though. I agree that N'Zogbia should have been taken off but not for Heskey. Heskey is NOT a winger. I'd rather N'Zogbia on who created our only goal. Yes, he's highly predictable and ALWAYS goes down the wing on his left foot and never cuts inside but I'd rather that than Heskey
