How to put a picture in your signature.

This is a guide, if you follow it then you will learn how to put a picture in your signature. It's quite simple, just follow these instructions. But be warned, some websites do not like you taking up their bandwidth. So if you take a URL from another site, that site can change the picture to anything they want. Usually pornographic images or an offensive message that could breach the Code of Conduct and you will be held responsible. :S T E P O N E: So, you have a picture you want to go in to your signature right? To do this, you must firstly right click the image on your mouse and a little pop-up will appear asking you what you want to do, click 'save as' and save it to your computer. Example: The rest to save it is pretty self-explanatory. You can however use the image that is already hosted(on the internet), to do this, you need to get the URL for the image. But what's a URL? An image URL is some text that tells the internet that it's an image. It also stands for Universal Resource Locator, but lets not go in to that as it might make your ickle brain implode. To get the URL, you need to right click the image again, but this time select the option 'properties'. And then, a little pop up window will appear and it will have the image URL in it. It should look similar to this: And then select the text, (selecting is highlighting it like I did in the above image) and copy it, then you should see step 4 to see what to do next. But if you are going to do it this way, keep in mind what I said about taking other websites bandwidth. :S T E P T W O: Now, you need to go to an image hosting site if you chose to save your image. In much simpler terms, it's a magical place where you go to put your favorite pictures on to the internet so you can share them with your wonderful friends. Here are two popular and most trusted image hosting websites: www.imageshack.us www.photobucket.com Tip: You might want to create your own account and make it private rather than uploading your pictures to these sites anonymously so other people can't steal your precious pictures. :S T E P T H R E E: I will now show you how to upload your image to an image hosting website. For a start, go to one of those sites, I will show you how to do it through Image shack anonymously for now. So, being on imageshack, you need to find an upload box, it looks like this: Now, press the magical browse button and look for the image you want to upload. When you've done that, you should see the name of your file in the little box a long with how big the file size is press the "UPLOAD NOW" button, and wait for it to upload, if it takes a while to load the page then your internet is probably slow or the website itself is slow. After the page loads, you should be on a new page with the image URL to the picture you just uploaded to the internet. It's full of strange weird text isn't it? What you want to look for is the Direct image URL, it's a URL directly to your image that you just uploaded. Highlight that text and then copy it. (Right click, copy). :S T E P F O U R: When you finally finish figuring out all of that confusing uploading stuff, you now are ready to put it in to your signature on the Download forums. Go to your profile page, it looks like this: After you found your profile page, click "Signature and Comment", and then you are on the page that you put your image link into. You need to put your image link into a box that looks like this: To do this, simply click on the Insert image icon which I have marked in the above image. Put your image link in the window that pops up. When you're done, press the save button at the bottom of your profile page, and it will update your signature. Make sure you haven't messed up the image URL, that can be why it doesn't work sometimes, or that you don't have a DIRECT image URL. If you find all else failing, PM one of the administrators or moderators and they'll sort it for you, they are generally a nice helpful bunch. ORIGINAL: AZZKIKR A few points to note... Please remember the C.O.C (Code of Conduct) and be considerate to other boardies. Dont make your signature massive(you will be asked to make it smaller or it will be removed) it creates scroll bars and people don't want to have to scroll for ages because of your signature. You can re size pictures easily in microsoft paint. Please don't put fast flashing images in your signatures(some people have epileptic problems). Remember that on every post you make your sig will be seen by other people, if its offensive people will notice it and complaints will be made. If you have any questions just ask, also if you need a thread to test your signature make it this one.
