Combichrist on Saturday. They were pretty good, although the crowd were smaller than I was expecting. They had a decent, long set, but only have one *really* good song, and a million slightly-less-good variations on that theme.
I hope we hang on past the last exit
I hope it's already too late

So did I.
Blink 182 @ M.E.N Arena

All-American Rejects - 2/10 - Enjoyed first few songs, but ended up going to bar about half way through because I started to find them boring.

Blink 182 - 10/10 - Good setlist and performed well. Enjoyed the acoustic version of Reckless Abandon.

Adrenaline Mob & Voodoo Six 02 Academy 2 Birmingham 01/07/12

Voodoo Six - 8/10 A great band live always bang on with the set & a new song thrown in also.

Adrenaline Mob - 9/10 I only knew a couple of the tracks off the album but they were quality live, and finished with war pigs !

The Stone Roses - Heaton Park Manchester - June 30th

Professor Green - 0/10 - dung. Utter dung. Went to the bar, and got a wristband for the front pit instead of listening to his nonsense.

The Wailers - 9/10 - Great stuff. Fit the mood pretty well, they also brought the sun out! Couldn't have written that bit any better!

Beady Eye - 4/10 - Beady Eye's own songs are shite, but Liam Gallagher is still an awesome frontman. Naturally, the place exploded then they did two Oasis songs, and they were easily the best part of their set.

The Stone Roses - 10/10. Exceptional, much, much better than I expected them to be. Had a couple of emotional moments, not going to lie, I had been waiting my entire adult life to see this band! Best songs? Ten Story Love Song, This Is The One, She Bangs The Drum, Sally Cinnamon, and, of course, I Am The Resurrection.

Not a chance I'll be at a better gig any time soon.

Defeater at Joiners last night:

Lucky One Dies First - 7/10 - Not too shabby, good crowd interaction.

Honour Is Dead - 6/10 - Pretty average.

Polar - 8/10 - Really got the place moving, and were the only band you could actually hear the vocals for so good as usual.

Former Thieves - 5/10 - Really disappointing.

Defeater - 8/10 - Caused mayhem, bodies flying everywhere, huge sing-a-longs, great fun.

Overall ruined a bit by far too quiet vocals and loads of hardcore dancers. Idiots.

Blink 182 @ Nottingham Arena

Blink 182 - 8/10 - only the sound issues ruined it slightly
The All American Rejects - 7/10
The Blackout - 0/10

Blink... They were absolutely fantastic! Sounded amazing! Until some c*nt threw a full pint over the sound deck and fried one of them. The poor sound techs spent an hour of the gig trying to fix whatever had broken/blown (by the sounds of it, it was whatever controlled the bass and treble levels and Tom's mic). Tom had a bit of a mardy about it on stage at the sound techs telling them to stop pressing buttons and f*cking up, but it wasn't them

AAR were superb, absolutely spot on and I felt 18 again bouncing about to Dirty Little Secret and Gives You Hell.

Blockout - biggest bunch of twunks ever to be on a stage. What the hell was the obsession with telling the crowd to go and kill themselves? Absolute dicks and not very good musically either. And instead of just playign Hyro part on Higher & Higher the welsh twunks decide to try and sing it... badly...

Previous to Blink was Our Lady Peace @ O2 Academy Islington & Canada Day

Islington - 10/10
Canada Day - 10/10

Absoutely fantatsic gigs, both of them. OLP were near note perfect adn had a fantastic stage oresence. One of the best gigs I've been to in a long time, up there with the likes of Rammstein, Manics, GreenDay, Rob Zombie for performances.

Defeater @ The Croft, Bristol, 4/7/12

Former Thieves - 7/10 - Not too bad, quite liked them.
Donnie Brasco - 7/10 - Again, not too bad. The audience seemed really uninterested though.
Defeater - 9/10 - Fucking amazing. They have to be one of the most underrated bands around at the moment, seriously.

Futures at Wedgewood Rooms last night:

The City Calls - 7/10 - Sounded really good, will be checking them out.

Natives - 7/10 - Really enjoyable tunes, rather uninterested crowd.

Don Broco - 9/10 - Great fun, really were awesome.

Futures - 7/10 - Sounded great, did a fine job, but didn't connect with the crowd very well.

Had a few recently.

Our Lady Peace - Islington - 9/10 - Awesome performance from them! really hope they come back over soon.

Incubus - Brixton - 8/10 - Good performance, sound was a little off for the first few songs.

FNM - Brixton - 9/10 - Nothing really to say accept they were fantastic start to finish.

Queen & Adam Lambert - Hammersmith - 10/10 - Absolutely stunning! I was expecting it to be good but it surpassed all expectations. Adam was note perfect and the band were bouncing around the stage. Mass singalongs.

Blink 182 - 10/10 - Absolutely amazing from start to finish, simply brilliant

The All American Rejects - 6/10 - Ok but nothing special

The Blackout - 7/10 - Pretty good, got the crowd jumping and had some cracking banter going as well.

Blink 182 @ Liverpool Echo Arena, July 12th.

The Blackout 6/10 - better than I expected!

The All American Rejects 7/10 - singer was off his tits but we had a right giggle at the front. a plectrum went down my top haha. didn't play "i wanna" though ... disappointed!

Blink 182 10/10 - much MUCH better than Leeds 2010 ... mainly because Tom hardly spoke haha. And they actually sang the songs properly... and sounded decent! Mark was smiling throughout. Great gig!

Blink 182 @ Liverpool Echo Arena, 12/7/12

The Blackout - 5/10 - Not bad but the worst time I've seen them, crowd didn't seem in to it at all.

The All American Rejects - 6/10 - Crowd was great during Dirty Little Secret and Gives you Hell, found the rest of the set boring as hell though.

Blink 182 - 9/10 - Only problem I had was some songs they'd left out of the set list. Other than that they were amazing, didn't dissapoint at all.
Upcoming: Muse, Bon Jovi, Warped Tour (US), Fun., Paramore

Your Demise at Sub89 last night:

Permenance - 6/10 - really quite dull, no care from the crowd which would clearly have improved their set.

High Hopes - 8/10 - For their first ever gig, this was superb. Great sounds, great presence, pretending to w**k onto the girls in the front row, still no movement in the crowd which stopped them reaching the heights they could have. Got a free EP that I'll check out later, defineately could be ones to watch.

Against The Flood - 7/10 - Sounded good, put on a fairly good show, but the crowd just didn't care again, shame because I really like these guys. Hopefully catch them again with a better crowd.

Your Demise - 9/10 - Great set, and now the crowd were finally involved they got everyone bouncing. It didn't matter that the venue wasn't even half full (makes sense since it had been bumped from The Face Bar), they just got everyone singing and moving, and plenty of people surfing (I swear someone has damaged my neck as they sat on the back of my head whilst going over the barrier). Came to an abrupt end as Ed dislocated his knee halfway through the last song and had to go to hospital, but I caught half a drumstick which made up for that!

Rizzle Kicks - 7/10 - Good fun

Refused - HMV Forum - 13th August

Refused - 10/10 - Best live band in the world
The Bots - 8/10 - Very enjoyable
Pettybone - 4/10 - Not my thing, but they weren't too bad

Not really an underrated band, always great live shows.

Heard they had a few problems at fluff fest because of their apparently supposed pro war stance due to their lyrics about WW2.Think it even came down to them having to explain themselves to the promoters due to the bad press they were getting from the elitist lefties at that fest.

Brighton,Green Door.
Burning Sound - 8/10 Decent punk with very decent dudes, word.
Vaccine - 8/10 Fast,Angry,Straight Edge with an Infest cover to boot.

Richard Thompson (solo) - 24th August 2012 - 10/10

Just Richard Thompson (OBE - ex Fairport Convention) on stage alone with his accoustic guitar, playing accoustic versions of his 40+ year back catalogue - absolutely superb, and one of the best chilled out gigs I've been to. He's one of the very best songwiters, and a great guitar player too - it's amazing how much depth of sound can come from one accoustic guitar, and the gig was full of humour and banter (and included his version of 'Oops I did it again'). For those who haven't heard him, you're missing out - maybe try '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' or 'She Twists The Knife Again' for starters.

Re: RE: Rate Your Last Gig - 30 August 2012 10:01
Status Quo - 9/10 - Tawe Fest

The mighty Quo in a park - what could be finer?! A typically fine and energetic performance of straight-up, loud, mean, meaty, hard, driving, heavy rock and roll. Despite the image they have with some (and some of their late 1980's/90's dodgy albums!), they are still one of the best live heavy rock acts around, and nothing remotely like the 'dad rock' they get so unfairly labelled with (unlike support act 'Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash', who are sadly just an ageing shadow of the band the name they use - 4/10 for them - tight and pleasant enough, but nothing more).

Paramore with Pure Love @ Edinburgh Corn Exchange 21/08/2012

Had high expectations. Kinda let down. As a Gallows fan, I was interested in seeing Pure Love to see how Frank's new band compared. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either. Then Paramore (guilty pleasure), which did dissapoint. Lack the energy from the Riot period, predictable setlist. The album next year will sell, but I think it's downhill from here. Hayley and Taylor cannot write material to the standard that Josh Farro did. Just a matter of time till Hayley Williams goes solo in my opinion.

The Proclaimers (8/10) with The Misers (8/10) (@ Pontardawe Arts Centre)

Yup......really.....The Proclaimers! And they were great! Absolutely spot on with the music and singing on every song (and there really are alot more great songs there than just the 2 or 3 well known ones), with real life and vigour to it - excellent performance to a very enthusiastic audience. If there was one slight criticism, it would be a lack of talking and interaction between songs, but I guess that only meant squeezing the maximum number of songs in to the set, so no biggy. Surprisingly loud, too! Excellent band to have a few beers to!

Not heard of the support act The Misers before, but they turned out to be a young (ish) kind of country/blues rock band from the Midlands that reminded me a little musically of later Bon Jovi (but with a bit more bounce) - very entertaining with some very memorable (and audience singable) songs. Well worth checking out if you like that kind of thing.

Fearless Vampire Killers at Bang Bar

Tom Rampton - 4/10 - Guy's got a good voice, but a whole set of acoustic covers just began to send me to sleep, would of liked some original material.

Amberline - 6/10 - Put on a good, fun set, but played to essentially six people, which really took some of the energy from the set, real shame as us six had a good time!

The Phrase - 3/10 - Awful, just awful.

Borderline:FIRE - 7/10 - Put on a really, really enjoyable set but the crowd just refused to react to them, these guys should explode soon, really great band.

Fearless Vampire Killers - 3/10 - To be fair to the band, their performance was worthy of probably a 7/10, they made me smile and are a pretty good live act, but this was very much a case of the crowd spoiling the gig. Refused to jump or clap until the singers told them so, instead choosing to headbang like they were watching the heaviest band in the world, yet would kill you if you attempted to start a pit. Awful, awful crowd took almost all enjoyment from their set.

The only time I can think of an audience spoiling a gig would be Air several years ago when seemingly all the women there had a good old noisy natter until the band played material from Moon Safari.

Gallows - Manchester Club Academy, October 6th

Feed The Rhino - 7/10 - They were a bit samey in places but very energetic and got the crowd going.

Gallows - 10/10 - Absolutely superb, the crowd were mental throughout and the band were defninitely feeding off it.

Slash - Manchester Apollo, October 8th

Ginger Wildheart - 8/10 - Never seen him before but was very enjoyable, actually recognised 1 of the songs!

Slash - 9/10 - Superb from start to finish, taking a point off for not playing Starlight

Forgot all about this thread, thanks for the bump!  Recently I've seen:

Rival Sons @ Sheffield Corp - 8/10 - very good live band who are on the road to superstardom I think

Tracer @ Leeds Cockpit - 9/10 - Planet Rock darlings from Aus, put on great show.

Daughtry @ Sheffield Arena - 7/10 - Great singer and performer let down by poor sound (as happens to arena support bands!).  I'd like to see him at his own headline gig.

Nickelback @ Sheffield Arena - 8/10 - far better and much heavier than I thought they'd be.

While She Sleeps - London Electric ballroom

Arrived late so only caught Last two bands

Bleed from within left me very unimpressed

While She Sleeps (7/10) were great, Put on a good show. A lot of the new material came across really well live, and mixed in some decent EP stuff too. Would happily go see them again.

Nasum (w/Black Breath) - Underworld, London

Black Breath (7.5/10)
Heard one song in passing once, recognised it when they played it, really good. The rest of the set was also highly impressive, surprised. Very heavy, good stuff.

Nasum (9/10)
Their last ever UK show and one I'm really happy I got to see, especially as I didn't even arrive in Camden with the intention of going to a gig. Had to leave early but a fantastic set from what I saw, top introduction to the Underworld.
