The Last Child - John Hart 9/10 Had me very hooked, but then I am a sucker for a good crime thriller.

Just finished the Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson. Fantastic crime writing, I was glued from the first page. It's just such a shame that he never lived to see his creation become the huge phenomenon it's become today and what's most annoying is that there's a rumoured 4th book that he finished just before he died, but alas, his lover will never release it. 10/10

Prisoner of Birth by Jeffrey Archer. 10/10 Absolutely superb. My dad gave it to me, and I wasn't convinced I was going to like it. But, after I started it, I couldn't put it down. Excellent stuff.

Just finished I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett. 7/10 for me whcih is a very low score considering how big a Terry Pratchett fan I am. I think it was too fairytale like and had a happilly ever after endign which is really unlike TP. Not sucha fan of it, but then i'm not a fan of the Tiffany Aching books anyways (except for the wee free men characters). They seem to be written for the younger readers of Discworld and don't raise enough of a satiricial comparision to real life for me. Also just finished Jack And Jill by James Patterson. An older one I know, but it was on offer in WHSmith and it was published before I started reading his books. 8/10 for me - definately a page turner and very well written!

They seem to be written for the younger readers of Discworld and don't raise enough of a satiricial comparision to real life for me. That's probably because they are. A lot of his books are written specifically with the younger reader in mind. The Amazing Maurice and the Johnny Maxwell books, for example, fall into this category. If you read them on that basis, they're good stories, but don't expect the full range of satire and adult humour of the main Discworld series.

Ye, but the Tiffany Aching stories were written as Discworld novels which is why I am a little disappointed :(

Currently ploughing through Robert Nye's version of Faust. It's really, really, really, really, really good.

'The Princes Bride' by William Goldman...what a frickin' awesome read that is! Highly, highly, highly recommend. Really funny, and genuinely quite exciting. You'll plough through it really quickly. Mr Goldman is indeed the man.

The White Queen - Philippa Gregory 7/10 Her books are a bit of a guilty pleasure - nothing like a bit of historical fiction, complete with affairs, witchcraft and beheadings. Think this is the first of her new War of the Roses ones - not bad, but not as good as some of the Tudor ones.

Emma Goldman - Living My Life (Volume 1) 10/10 Incredible woman, incredible stories. The repetitive tales of how she victoriously garnered praise from previously hostile crowds (which she did genuinely do, many times) are balanced with lucid accounts of her run ins with the authorities, especially how the police state and media persecuted her following the McKinley assassination. Not to mention her passing impressions of the likes of Kropotkin, Malatesta and Ferrer. I have Volume two sat waiting now. Going to finish a few other books first.

beanyontoast Narrow Dog to Carcassonne 6/10 I didn't actually finish it, which is nothing against the story it just didn't 'grab' me. I battled through this and managed to finish it, but found it quite dull overall. My Mum and Gran loved it though :)

Just finished Nye's Faust. Excellent book. Can't recommend it enough. Going to finish From Hell then make a start on Twilight of the Idols by Nietzsche.

ChesterChestertonPhD Halfway through Moby Dick. Rating? What do you think? A classic that deserves it's place amongst the other literary greats unlike Catcher In The Rye. Which I'm still mad at wasting two weeks on .

I've been reading Moby Dick for a ****ing age. It's one of those books that I keep getting distracted from. Just bought an anthology of Mother Earth articles which doesn't help...
