Had to be done.

The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (Mathias Malzieu) - 8/10

I thought the whimsical imagery might annoy me but it worked into the plot well in the long run to make a very enjoyable read in which the style becomes the substance.

James Patterson - I, Alex Cross - good as always, but doesn't seem to follow on - too much in there that isn't explained in regards to the Alex Cross series

James Patterson - Alex Cross's Trial - Phenomenal - had me hooked from the beginning!

Terry Pratchett - Unseen Academicals - On form as normal! Fantastic!

John Grisham - Ford County Stories - sooner he gets back to the legal thrillers the better, was good but not as good as normal

Dead To The World - Charlaine Harris (4th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series)

I'd say 6/10 as a book in itself, but 8/9 for it in the context I'm reading it in.
Pretty trashy chick-lit, but good no brain involved read to help me cope until Season 3 of True Blood's out this summer. Fans of the books would probably disagree, but as someone who got into these after being hooked on the series, I think if I'd come across them prior to watching the TV show they'd have left me cold. With the characters and settings of the series in my mind though, it's a decent substitute. I guess it's credit to the book that all the new characters etc I can happily fit into Alan Ball's version.
I cant be too critical; I havnt read anything other than magazines & art or horse training books in years; yet im onto the 5th in the series having got them for Christmas!

Ha Ha awesome - I have a few signed ones, has signed Artwork as well, but lost most of my collection in a house flood about a year ago :( My collection is about 1/4 the size now :(

Unseen Academicals is really good - up to normal standards and new charaters in it!

Lionel Shriver - We Need To Talk About Kevin - 9/10

I hated it to start with but by the end I was totally hooked and was tempted to start it all over again. Nobody in it was overly likeable and it definitely wasn't the best thing to read when in a bad mood but I can see why it got so much acclaim, it's pretty astonishing.

Currently reading Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian which is a sort of re-imagining of the Dracula story, enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

I read Blood Bowl The Omnibus again a couple weeks ago and I'd give it 10/10, definetly one of my favourite books ever!

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Seriously, stop whatever you're doing and read everything this man has written. He is a consummate storyteller. Everything he does gets a 10 from me.

The Graveyard Book tells the story of Nobody Owens, whose family is killed when he is a toddler. He evades the murderer and ends up in the local graveyard where he is adopted by the resident ghosts. It is based quite heavily on The Jungle Book - Rudyard Kipling's version, not Disney's! It tells the tale of his life until his teens and goes on to explain why, and by whom, his family was killed, ending with a graveyard showdown with those responsible. It is, as with all his works, imaginative and brilliantly told.

Having finished that, I have just started Nation by Terry Pratchett. I'll report back when I've read more but, well, it's Terry Pratchett!

I thought that the whole series was excellent - and I read them before watching the series (but think that the series has been done pretty damn well!)

Last book I read was Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'

I loved it, but found it a little wordy at times (difficult to follow in a room with 3 boys playing COD :P) so I think I'll give it 8/10 :)

Red Dahlia by Lynda La Plante - 7/10. Good story and characters but some of the writing seemed a little amateurish and the ending was a bit of a cop out.

I can't remember the last book I read largely because I'm reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco at the moment and it's just about sucking up all my brain power. Great book but blimey it's hard going in some places.

Linda Fairstein, Lethal Legacy - I now know more about book restoration and antiquarian books than I thought was possible. Well researched, author intent on proving it. Repeatedly.

Rough Guide to the Brain - fascinating. If you don't want to study neuroscience and wade through textbooks but want to know a bit more about your memory, consciousness and interesting ways the brain can go wrong, it's perfect.

I need to check Neil Gaimain and Charlaine Harris out.
