Only read one book by him "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents". Quite enjoyed that. Anyone got any recommendations for further reading? ta.

No, start at the start. In fact, start with Strata. Then get onto Discworld, in order.

I'm a total Pratchett Addict, I've read them all, even the short stories, owned them all in hardback! plus maps and yearbooks and lost them all due to relocating 2002! Thanks goes to Ant who introduced me to COM after he'd read it :o)x

I didn't have a clue they were doing another! Not sure Going Postal would have been near the top of my list for TV adaptations though. Hogfather was excellent, but I didn't think Colour of Magic was a patch on it. I thought the casting in particular was poor, amongst other things. Don't know most of the cast for Going Postal, but Moist is being played by Richard Coyle the bloke who played Jeff, the mental Welsh bloke in Coupling - I don't know him from anything else, so I'm having a hard time imagining him as Moist rather than a Welsh nutter. I actually thought it must have been the bloke who played Steve at first, but that's Jack Davenport, who I thought would have been a great choice for Moist but then I remembered that he's actually done quite well for himself and they probably couldn't afford him. Anyway, looking forward to it, hope it's good.

The casting looks quite good to me to be honest - Junior postman Groat is being played by Andrew Sachs which is genius. There is a double page spread in this month's Sky magazine thingy. The golems look awesome! I think its is a good choice - its a stand alone story so its not just Discworld fans who will enjoy it

I'm a little annoyed - they left out Mr Tiddles and i'm not impressed with how little they are using Postman Groat... Oooo and there is no sorting machine... and it wasn't Stanley who had the good idea about the stamps!! Not too bad considering its an adaptation but I don't think its as good as the previous ones...

Hogfather was definately the best TV adaptation, wasn't too keen on colour of magic. Going postal seems to be OK but its only half way through so can't really say. My favourite books are probably Mort and Soul Music

Missed this on the basis that the Colour of Magic was an utter abortion of an adaptation.

I'm a fan. I've watched "The Colour Of Magic" and "The Hogfather". Read "Wintersmith" and (although not soley Terry) "Good Omens" (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman). I don't read a lot really, but would be interested to maybe read a few more at least. Don't know about favourites.

polythenegirl ORIGINAL: Soper See I do want to get into Pratchett but I have no idea where to start and if his books follow an order. Help please. You can read them separatley out of order if you want, but it is best to read the trilogy books in order... for example the City Watch trilogy and the Witches trilogy... I have the 3 in 1 books which I think can be bought online still Have a look here - It has them in order http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/p/terry-pratchett/ you could always do want I did and just pick one that sounds cool and see if you like it!! Excellent link, thanks muchos. Saying that I only have 15 and there are glaring gaps in my collection now, still nice to have them in some sort of order, picked up Colour of Magic, Jingo and Thief of Time yesterday. Though my favourite so far has probably been Mort or Reaper Man

I've just been trying to re-read Small Gods and forgot how hard it was to read, Favourite book - Soul Music ( This book is about sex, drugs and rock n roll well one out of three aint bad) / Thief of Time Favourite Character - Susan Cracking author shame he's got Alzeheimers(sp), he's still writing though. As for the Sky Movies i thought Postal Service was the best of the three, Unseen Academicals should be good when it comes out.

He is still writing - there is a new one in the works called Snuff which was announced at the Discworld convention this year I believe - I think it's a Sam Vimes book. Unseen Academicals? Where have you got that from - I didn't think that there was one agreed for the next adaptation? There certainly nothing about it on the TP Official Forums as far as I've seen. I've just re-read my favourite TP one Wyrd Sisters and also Last Continent :)
