I discovered The Colour of Magic when I was about 9/10 and have remained a fan ever since, although I've never worked my way through all of the Discworld series.

I read Colour of Magic/The Carpet People at least once a year.

    Gotta be Rincewind.

I'm a huge Wyrd Sisters fan - my fave character has to be Nanny Ogg, though the City Watch books and Sam Vimes and Nobby Nobbs are close behind!

I've just finished the lastest one and its as good as you would expect from him. It a shame that someone with such a great amount of talent has been subjected to Alzheimers :(

I've been reading Sir Terry's books for about 20 years now. I started late; a friend was reading Guards! Guards! (the 8th Discworld novel). I asked what it was about and he read a bit about the Privy Council which explained why they are called that.  That was enough to get me started and I was soon hooked. Just started Nation. I think my favourite may be one that he didn't write himself - Good Omens, co-written with my other favourite author of the moment, Neil Gaiman. I'm not sure exactly how many Pratchett books I have at home, but I do know it is over 50. No, I'm not going to name them all! Favourite character? Probably Death.

I just couldn't get into Nation at all. I'm going to give it another go soon though - I did just try and read it straight after a Stephen King so it could have been that....

A strange mix indeed. I came straight from Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book so maybe I'll get into it a bit more easily.

It's all about the witches and the watch for me. Granny Weatherwax has to be my favourite character. I've been buying loads of audio books off ebay recently they're brilliant for listening to whilst driving. Tony Robinson does a fantastic job of narrating, although he does have a rather irritating habit of whispering in certain parts which is no use to anyone if you're doing 70 mph. Favourite books are Small Gods, Wyrd Sisters, Lords and Ladies, The Fifth Elephant and Feet of Clay to name but a few. Actually Moving Pictures was great too. Right I think I'm just gonna stop with my favourites because I've just remembered how good Jingo is, lets face it, he's awesome.

I think I have practically all the Discworld books except the newest ones, some of them I think are far better than the others.

Death and Granny Weatherwax definitely my favourite characters, favourite book is probably... hmmm... Fifth Elephant perhaps, or Witches Abroad.

I don't like Rincewind very much, I find him irritating. [&o]

LOVE Terry Pratchett! I could quite happily just read all of his books back to back.

Soper, get The Colour of Magic. It's the first of the Discworld series and introduces you to Rincewind who is a BRILLIANT character.

Start with the Colour of Magic, which was the first book. Then move onto the Light Fantastic, which is the sequel.

After those two it shouldn't really matter what order you read them in. Though I am trying to go through them in order myself.

You can read them separatley out of order if you want, but it is best to read the trilogy books in order... for example the City Watch trilogy and the Witches trilogy... I have the 3 in 1 books which I think can be bought online still

Have a look here - It has them in order

you could always do want I did and just pick one that sounds cool and see if you like it!!
