that does suck but i have to say i took my indate passport last year and just kept it in bad the whole time so i didnt lose it ... the wrist bands didnt always work last year mine did but my mates didn't.... i only have my passport so had to take it... this year im gonna take it even though im nearly 22 keep getting asked for ID when i buy lottery which is daft but not when i buy booze... hoping that i dont have to send it off before i go as i think i need to do a CRB before then which means i may not get it back in time if i send it to my uni... but once i get the form i will do it straight away... or  if its too close will ring them and say i need it for a week then i will send it.

So what's the update on this provisional thing then?
Of course, I don't know if I could get told off for saying this, but just because YOU
don't have ID doesn't mean other people don't...

I remember when I'd just turned 18, one of my mates got ID'd and was only 17 at the time. He proudly presented his student ID. "This says you're only 17" said the bouncer on checking the date of birth. "Yeah", says my mate, "but look, it's last years ID"

He got in too.

INFO SECTION on the main site..

PROOF OF AGE

If you are lucky enough to look under 21, it may be that we ask you to prove your age when entering the festival (under 16's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian) or when attempting to buy alcohol (The law of the land still applies in the festival grounds!).

Please don't be offended by this request, in fact take it as a compliment!

The ONLY accepted proof of age documents are:

1) Passport (Not a photocopy, must be valid)
2) Photocard Driving License (inc. provisional)
3) Proof Of Age Card - The card must be part of the PASS scheme and carry their hologram.
4) Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card

You will only need to present your ID once at the festival, after which you will be issued with a wristband confirming your age. Further details on where and how to do this will be available here very soon.

Once you've shown your ID, we recommend you store it in our secure lockers that are available as a supplemental item when booking your tickets or on the tickets page if you've already got your tickets.

If you would prefer to bring a Proof Of Age Card but don't yet have one, click here for details on how to apply for one. We recommend you start the process of ordering your card very soon to ensure you are prepared for the festival

I'd love to do this, but I don't have a verifier, and doctors charge to do it.

have you checked who can sign the photo cause shop owners can and I'm sure there must a shop you have gone in regularily somewhere, I believe head teachers can as well. Maybe chat to your local MP or justice of peace. Do you know anyone who is a police officer or a civil servant? There are so many different people who can sign it.

I go to uni, and im not at uni until after download, so no go there.
No police officers, since i travel to uni and back a lot, theres no shops i use regularly.
Local MP's labour, so I'm not going to ask any favours and expect them done.

i've never been able to understand why out of date passports aren't accepted either. i work in a couple of bars so i have to id people regularly. but i'm checking to see if that person is of legal drinking age, not able to leave the country or even afford to renew their passport. it all seems a tad bureaucratic to me.
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
