EDIT: Can't get ninja text to work...perhaps we should start a thread in Art & Literature for the books, because of spoilers and that?

I've been loving watching the breakdowns for the visual effects, it's great inspiration and looks bloody amazing. I guess it just proves that the line between TV and film is bluring even more....

Enjoying the books. But I fear the budget of the next season will fall short and some good moments (battles) will be left out like in Game Of Thrones.

Davos is probably one of the better characters at the moment.

I dunno Bronn was cool at first but now he seems a bit samey, hoping he'll turn more deceitful when/if tides turn.It would be interesting to see him keep his reputation as a sellsword by turning on the lannisters for a more prominant force.

Only just found out that Cassie from the first two series of Skins has been cast as Gilly for season two. She was one of the most entertaining characters in Skins so I'm very happy to hear this.

Someone else from British telly. Some redhead who was in Downtown Abbey is going to be in season two as well apparently.

I'm going to see what the odds are for the Scottish fella from Fresh Meat being cast for season three.

Moist of the cast seem to be British, it's great.

King Robert Baratheon, Caitlyn Stark, Ned Stark, Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jorah Mormont, Littlefinger, Visery's Targaryen, Jon Snow, Robb Stark, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Theon Greyjoy (played by Lily Allen's brother - ha), Bran Stark, Sandor Clegane. All played by British actors. Fantastic.

I honestly believe that's what makes the series excel to the next level, the fact that it's not a bunch of americans trying to pull off accents, long may this casting continue.

Hodor is also a Scot, not that he has much in the way of meaningful dialogue...

Have to say, out of that lot it's difficult to pick the ones that stand out haha.

Almost a shame that Viserys is dead (glorious though that scene was) because Harry Lloyd had him utterly nailed.

I always thought Lord Tywin was a Brit actor as well, sure I've seen him in UK stuff before?

Amongst other things, he played Lord Vetinari in Going Postal last year. Can definitely see why they wanted him off the back of that performance - the characters are very similar and he was brilliant

Re:New HBO Series "Game Of Thrones" - 04 November 2011 09:25

Game of Thrones is 'fantasy gateway drug'

04-11-11
// THE immensely popular A Game of Thrones books are leading thousands into the desperate squalor of fantasy addiction, it has been claimed.

Do you find yourself wanting this?

George R.R. Martin's epic novels, which have become the default read among ordinary-looking UK commuters, and the associated HBO TV series provide a seemingly innocent introduction to 'fantasy culture'.

However there is increasing concern that the hit saga is leading them to experiment with even thicker and more outlandish fantasy paperbacks, and in extreme cases to start pushing tiny metal monsters around a table with shy ponytailed men.

Professor Henry Brubaker, of the Institute for Studies, said: “People who read A Game of Thrones often tell themselves it's a one-off, that they won't read any more embossed-covered 1000-page books with dragons in except Lord of the Rings which doesn't count.

“But after you've consumed one fantasy epic, it can be hard to stop. We've seen people with decent jobs and normal healthy relationships moving on to Dragonriders of Pern novels or the Wheel of Time sequence.

“From there it's a short, slippery slope towards Warhammer 40,000 and the complete social exclusion that comes with knowing with a 'chaotic goblin' is.”

Teacher Nikki Ellis said: “My husband Jeff was a loving, well-adjusted man when he first picked up A Game of Thrones (A Song of Fire and Ice Book One).

“Clearly with a title like that I was concerned, but he assured me it was just 'magic realism' like Angela Carter.

“Six months later, he's made his own suit of armour and stands in front of the bathroom door saying 'You shall not pass, I am Krell the Magemancer'. If you try to get past he hits you with a rubber sword, shouting 'minus four strength points'.

“I hate to say this, but it'd be better if he were dead.”

Architect Tom Logan said: “I don't consider myself a fantasy fan, preferring more literary novels about ageing academics taking stock of their lives. However, unlike Alan Hollinghurst's books, A Game of Thrones has lots of beheadings, ghost knights and wolves the sizes of ponies.

“At a recent aspirational dinner party I locked myself in the toilet and read a few pages. I couldn't help myself, I just had to see how the manipulative dwarf Tyrion Lannister's evil schemes unfolded.

“But dear god, the shame was so intense. I fear I am entering a dark and unfashionable place from which there is no return.”

Tbh I have seen all the episodes in the first series and was very dissapointed. I think they tried to make the thing too big. There was never enough time on one of the storys or leads before it cut to a different one. Not enougn blood and gore either ;)

Just caught a bit of the last episode. I still maintain that "Robb...You've ruined your sword" is the best line of the series so far. It just perfectly shows how Catelyn has become a proper Stark, brilliant writing. That, or "I'm going to **** THEM."

She's in the next series, and has already been cast.

Rose Leslie.

A trailer for Season 2 has aired BTW.

Ha! Fair play, she'll do. Didn't even realise she appeared as early as Clash of Kings, not long started A Feast for Crows and I've lost track

about a quarter of the way through the epic tome that is Storm of Swords. I wonder if the producers of the TV Show, will blur the lines between CoK and SoS like GRR Martin has done.

Haha, this is awesome. Although I read Dragonriders of Pern AGES ago.
