Great episode. The first was *as mentioned by many* An introduction to characters. The second was the same albeit a lot less of character introduction. Theon and Asha scene was awesome. It seems to have that "Build and build as we move on" quality. Working really well.

nfe I'd have thought it perfectly clear that he simply wanted to poison her because he feels she's going to force his Lord into an unwinnable war, and didn't think he could be sure of her drinking it unless he tried to dress it up like that. I also don't think the ordering of the scenes matters a jot so long as the episode flows well (which it doesn't always in the first episode, second is better) and that it's chronologically accurate enough for the story arcs to work out correctly. But the way the scene was done, he started bleeding from the mouth before she took a sip, surely she could have just thrown the glass away and not bothered? Seemed to give the game away. Admittedly it's been a while since I read the book, but doesn't she drink the poison first even though she knows? Then he drinks it as he realises he's been had and basically committed treason? Which would make more sense as it sets the scene and demonstrates her powers from the off. The episode was still done well, I just thought it odd to rejiggle it so much. I much preferred the prologue being all about Stannis, as it set as a sequel straight away by basically saying, 'remember that guy who was heir to the throne you were wondering about?' Introducing him later on made Dragonstone seem far more peripheral than it is. I know it's picky, but would be a shame to faff with it after the first series was so faithful.

With regards to the second episode, I was a little miffed that *spoilers* It appears that one of Dany's bloodriders has been killed. Because none of them were in the books. Other than that the second episode was very good. *end spoilers*

Think its still decent even though they're minor tangents within the episodes, but I highly doubt they'll change much.

Was a bit confused about who's who in Stannis's crew. I don't think they introduced them as well. I spent the first episode thinking the guy with the beards son was Renly... Also lol at Theon in the second episode. At first I was like "whilst riding a horse? man's got skills" and then I was all like "eeeeewwwwwww" Tyrion was an absolute boss in this episode. Didn't quite have the impact of the first episode but it was good. I liked that we finally got to see some bonding between Arya and Roberts bastard.

Very good episode. So many tremendous lines and scenes. Tyrion's fish pie as well as fucking over the city watch commander, Arya and Roberts bastard, The pirate wanting to "fuck" the queen, Theon getting absolutely schooled, Littlefinger being incredibly evil. Best part for me though was Cersei's "joke", that was one of the harshest things I've ever heard, stunning work.

Bern Littlefinger being incredibly evil. I think this is a problem. He has far too much weight at this point. All the surprises later are going to be lost because he's already significant as opposed to a seemingly knowing but ineffectual wee pleb in the books. Probably wont make any odds plot-wise, but it'll lose some fun for the viewer who hasn't read the books, I think.

Too me he just seems to be a bit of dick and is completly apathetic towards his "investments", not really in any real power as seen with the cersei confrontation which made him look pathetic.

confirmed for a third season =) not that we didn't see that coming but good to have it certain. Really enjoyed this last ep, especially my other half's reaction to Theon + Yara.

Was due to similar sounding names I heard, to make it easier for the watchers to digest. Although Yara sounds a little like Arya, so I can't see where it made sense

To avoid confusion with Osha I believe. Same reason as Jhogo isn't in the series, as they thought people might confuse his name with Drogo. On the subject on Bloodriders, I'm a little miffed that they've killed off Rakharo. Hmph. Also, at the end of episode 2 Melisandre states that Stannis' wife has only given him stillborns. So have they written Shireen out the story then?

They seem to have conflated Selyse and Shireen - Milisandre says that Selyse is a sickly woman that stays in her tower. That should be Shireen. Seems reasonable enough, neither really contribute to the stories.

Loved the second episode, great character development and some really brilliant dialogue as everyone has mentioned already, god I love this programme. I had the Renly confusion as well, was expecting to see him in this episode to be honest but it's building it quite well, the knowledge that he's off somewhere with a massive army just waiting to claim the throne. Chuffed that the third series has been confirmed, seemed obvious that it would but still.

Getting a bit annoyed with the faffing around now. How are they going to explain the dead bloodrider without changing the story completely? Seemingly getting rid of Shereen is one thing, but I don't remember Stannis doing Melisandre at any point either. I'm surprised Martin himself hasn't got the hump about it being altered.

This being HBO and all, they have a certain blood/tits quota to meet. It is hinted in the books (I've read A Feast for Crows, not started on A Dance with Dragons yet) that Stannis was boning Melisandre though, although that's just interpretation I suppose.

Spoilers for those who haven't read the books. *SPOILERS* The shadow spectre thingy that Melisandre births at Storms End is the son she's referring too. I believe she says to Davos that she and Stannis 'conceived' it together. I might be wrong though. *END SPOILERS*

It's hinted that there is some kind of sexual congress. And she certainly kips in Stannis' tent at a point. But I think the implication is more that there's some kind of magical union. Which would be far more in character for honour-and-justice-obsessed Stannis. EDIT: New preview suggests it might start to get more interesting/exciting for folks who haven't read the books in episode 3.

Which would be far more in character for honour-and-justice-obsessed Stannis. That was always my view on it. In the books it pretty much stated Stannis could hardly stand to be around women. And I always thought he was portrayed as stood with Melisandre rolling his eyes, but getting on with it regardless as her powers had a hold on him/were his only chance. Even if that's not the case I preferred the hints rather than a blantent sex scene in the book anyway. EDIT: What Targaryen/Lannister rumours? I hope it's not what I think, was just starting to get on board with the Targaryens.

You don't mean the rumour that was about before ADWD came out? About Tyrion being the son of Aerys and another Lannister and therefore has a claim on the throne? 'Cause it was nonsense. Though I think Tyrion has as much chance as anyone of ending up on the throne at the end of the series.

phew I thought it was a spoiler. Although whilst we're on rumours/theories. My friend told me a good one about how Jon may not be Ned's son but rather his Sisters. With the father being ........Rhaegar Targaeryon! Which would be pretty sick.

That's the prevailing opinion on Jon's parentage, yeah. It seems pretty sensible but it's gotten to the point where it'd really be a bit disappointing if he is since most folks assume that's the case.

It would stand out like a sore thumb, though. I can't see how letting the child of his wife's adultery live, especially after she died, would be at all in-keeping with Tywin's character. It was a non-existant rumour insofar as I'm aware until people who claimed they'd read ADWD pre-release claimed it happened in that book, no?

I guess your right in that Tywin is heartless to the core, it dousn't add up,as is all the theories in the GRRM world concerning parentage of some of the characters; none of them are entirely plausible.Everything in the GRRM universe is hinted so that nerds like me can get a boner from all the speculation and keep reading.

Surely Tyrion has to be born of Tywin's wife because he killed her when he came out? Although I suppose his father could be not Tywin. Anyway, great episode this week. Yoren was a boss. And Tyrion was such a genius. It was strange though because I was reading the first book last night at the bit when they're talking about killing Danearyas, and Pycelle suggests the tears of Lys and it suddenly clicked for me that he was the one working for the Lannisters. and then it was confirmed in this episode! what a coincidence heh.
