Storm of Swords is great, but a Feast for Crows was quite a drag I thought. Mainly because all the good characters are absent. Thankfully a Dance with Dragons is back to form.
Goatsnake

**** just got seriously real in Book 3. OH MY DAYS!!!

Can't wait for this to be realised on the old tellybox

I actually got genuinely angry at 'certain events' in Storm of Swords. Easily the best book so far.

Sooner then I expected. Blu Ray of Season 1 comes out about a week before Season 2 starts.

Victarion Greyjoy is an utter badass in ADWD.

A Feast for Crows is almost a build up to shit kicking off, for the new characters. The same way A Game of Thrones was for the 'original' lot. About 70 pages from the end at the minute. Actually got me starting to like the Iron Men, though expected more from Dorne, hopefully that comes in Dance with Dragons.

A Dance With Dragons is centered around the characters that didn't feature in a Feast for Crows. It's chronologically running parallel with it as well, so the events at the end of a Feast for Crows haven't taken place yet at the start of the book.

I think when the timelines catch up (presumably towards the the end of the book), then the other set of characters get reintroduced again. But I'm about 500 pages in and the Dorne stuff hasn't even been mentioned yet.

Well looking forward to it already though.

You know I said I was about 500 pages in and there was no Dorne stuff? That was literally because I stopped at the end of a chapter that ended on page 500. Page 501 was Dorne stuff  I did chuckle when I realised it. It's proper good so far. Going to be gutting if it's another 5 years until the next book.

Apparently he's written the beginning of Winds of Winter (from the Starks point of view) and at least titled A Dream of Spring (apparently the last of the series) so I'd hope that means not too long.

I don't know how much you can read into that, when you consider that a large chuck on Dance of Dragons is just what he cut from Feast of Crows; and it took him six years to release it!

Infact, it says this at the end of Feast for Crows (I've edited out the names to prevent spoilers for others).

"'Hey, wait a minute!' some of you may be saying about now. 'wait a minute, wait a minute! Where's **** and ****? Where's ****? We hardly saw ****. That can't be all of it...'
Well, no. There's more to come. Another book as big as this one.
I did not forget to write about the other characters. Far from it. I wrote lots about them. Pages and pages and pages. Chapters and more chapters. I was still writing when it dawned on me that the book had become too large to be published in a single volume ... And I wasn't even close to finished yet. To tell all of the story that I wanted to tell, I was going to have to cut the book in two.
The simplest way to do that would have been to take what I had, chop it in half around the middle, and end with "to be continued." The more I thought about that, however, the more I felt that the readers would be better served by a book that told all the story for half the characters, rather than half the story for all the characters. So that's the route I chose to take.
****, ****, ****, **** and ****, **** and all the rest of the characters you love or love to hate will be along next year (I devoutly hope) in A Dance with Dragons. "

So what should have been one year later turned into six, even though he had already written a fair chunk of it. So god knows how long The Winds of Winter will take.

Just finished AFFC and see your point. Though that at the end pretty much says he was pissing about umming and arring about what to write about who and whether to release one book or two etc etc. I imagine this time he's starting afresh and The Winds of Winter is blatently going to be all about the Starks, so can't see it taking as much deliberation this time. I hope.

I know it's jumping on the bandwagon of a book they made a show about, but genuinely haven't been drawn into a book, let alone a series this much in years.

I adore these books. I hope that the next one doesn't take as long to come out as the last one, I'm hoping that the popularity of the TV series might spur him on a bit to write faster ;)

I have my theories as to what I think is going to happen, I need to know if I am right goddamnit!!!

I'M IN SHOCK! Just reading Storm of Swords and everything happens so quickly !!

The book is freaking amazing! Im still about 300 pages off the end but Oh my dais.... never thought for a second that...

Damn you people if you haven't read the book stopping me from writing what happened!

To be honest, it would be difficult to recreate some of the characters from the books. Gregor Clegane is 8 feet tall and built like a tank in the book. Good luck finding an actor like that.
