Hello all! 3 quick questions (I might just being stupid and not looking properly but..)
1. are there individual showers or communal in RIP
2. can you defanitly park your car next to your tent even you go for the cheapest RIP package
3. how often does the shuttle bus run from RIP to village and is there one that runs to the arena (I havent ever noticed one to the arena before but thought I might as well ask)

1. individual pay showers and free showers
2. Yep, no matter what package you get you will be guarenteed a parking spot next to your tent
3. I'm not sure about this one I'm afraid but i believe the bus only runs on Wednesday and Thursday (due to the risk of thousands of people walking along the road on their way to/from the arena)

Just as a heads up if the shuttle bus Wed and Thurs is anything like last year it's pretty pointless... just prevents you having to walk uphill...  however previous years it wasn't too bad... no there isn't one any other days..

hard to believe but I'm actually having a hard time understanding how the RIP package works. Could someone please please help me out. I'd like to get the RIP hotel stay at the Hilton or the Holiday Inn for two people and two nights. It says that the accomodation prices indicated are per couple, but when you proceed with the purchase it indicates "arena ticket included" (singular). there are two of us going - does that mean we'd have to get a RIP package + one extra weekend ticket? many thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.

If you book a hotel package for two including ticket it will give you tickets for both of you - e.g. Holiday Inn Express is £1098 for a double/twin for 2 nights for 2 people including arena tickets for both of you.

I've bought 2 RIP camping tickets and my mate's bought another one. The three of us will be coming in my car but we'll all have our own tents. Is that going to be a problem?

Also when do you have to attach names to the tickets? I'm not 100% sure who's having my second ticket but I'll definitely find someone to us it.

One car, three people and three tents won't be a problem. You'll be able to camp together next to the car since you're arriving together.
Since you're all arriving together it doesn't matter about the name on the second ticket - they'll both be in your name (me and hubby always have both tickets in my name because I always book them).

Couple of questions for you....
I've seen a few people mention the Barn brekkie, not been to the barn for breakfast past 2 years but quite interested in what there is to offer now!?

Has anyone been for a massge from RIP, are they reasonably priced (can't remember price now) and was it worth it?

(also as an aside... Is "Billy Talent's drummer" on here from 2 years ago......... you know who you are if you are........!!)

Here is a question for you.

A mate of mine who is coming rip has bought rip camping tickets.  His van that he normally travels around with can actually be used as a campervan but what he normally does is attach his tent to the side of the van.  Will this be allowed in RIP Camping do you think?

deni deni - fraid I don't know the answers to your questions - can anyone else help?

MetalManiac - one of the Camp Bumhole group drives a van to Download RIP every year (he doesn't have a car), so it should be ok I think. I'd suggest that your friend checks with Live Nation Experience though to be sure: livenationexperience@livenation.co.uk or phone 020 7009 3484 (Mon-Fri 10am-6pm).

The breakfast used to be reasonable value - I think it used to be £5 for a full breakfast including tea/coffee (possibly 2009). I remember being a bit disappointed last time though, with the price increase versus quality. Apologies for being a little vague. However, for an easy start to a day when recovering from a "busy" day previously, it can be helpful
My wife had a massage in 2010 and said it was worth it. I am thinking of getting one next year. Not expensive at all and especially for a festival:
"There's an Eco Day Spa tent, where you can get a massage (full body/back neck and shoulder/Indian head or foot) and this cost £20 for 30 mins or £40 for 60 mins in 2011."

Hello my lurvlies,

I've heard that there is a wait list for RIP tickets (camping) is this true & if so how do you get on the list?  My Son & Daughter were not quick enough and have both missed out
Oooops! Just seen a thread about this, sorry!

Ahh, haven't read the FAQ from the beginning since it went up so forgot, cheers, sorry! [(:|]

Might just stick with my own cooked breakfast then - I'm quite happy to, so I suppose it's cheaper......

How many regular RIP camping tickets are available? + How big is the caping area compared to the whole of regular or maybe just compared to one coloured area say?

RIP camping is all sold out now. but in terms of size it is like being at a regular proper run campsite.

Not sure of the exact numbers as it is dependent on how many other packages are sold also - but camping is about 2k there abouts.  Or it could be 2k for the whole campsite.

I do not know the exact numbers sorry.

Plenty to go around and as Wez says people shower at different times - some when they come back from arena - some early morning - some mid afternoon if no bands on they want to see etc.. they have free showers and pay showers - toilets all over the place etc.

Re:RIP FAQs - 07 December 2011 20:08
I would say I usually go around peak time to the showers (between 9-10, depending on when we wake up) and never waited more than 10 mins for the free ones (found the paying ones had a longer wait the year before).

Hi, I'm new into this and I need some answers.  I'm travelling with a friend of mine all way down from Argentina (far away) and we're planning to buy the Hilton package, my flight will arrive to London on Wednesday, so I've to travel to Donington, but then I don't know what to do. Do I have to go to the RIP camp site to have my wrist band or go directly to the Hotel? Please, help because this travel will be my biggest journey ever.
Thanks in advance.

There are LN staff at the hotel that will sort you out - you do not need to come to the campsite.
Go straight to the hotel on the day your package starts and they will sort you out.

Re:RIP FAQs - 08 December 2011 06:59
Thank you very much, this is very helpful for me.
Just two more things: The package I'm going to buy is the 3 nights, do you know at what time can I check in into the hotel? I mean, I go directly the Friday, I say I'm going to the fest and then there the transfer will take me directly to the arena?
Second think (this is pure n00b) is I'm confused with the package, because when I select the package I want, two options appears: with and without ticket. This ticket is the ticket to go to the Arena and being at the Festival?
Again, thanks in advance, and sorry if there're things with bad grammar, English is not my native language.

You will need the package with ticket as that is your festival ticket.
I will see what I can find out about the times for the hotel/shuttle and get back to  you.

Thank you very much, I ask this because I travel from across the sea and the flight is to London and it'll arrive on June 7th so I'll have one day to travel to Donington by bus or something like that... It's going to be an adventure, with my birthday include (it's June 14th)
Again, thanks Jezebel.

There are trains from London to East Midlands Parkway which is very near Donington. This takes just under 2 hours. From there you can a shuttle bus to the site (I think) or taxi shouldn't be too expensive.

No worries - I should get an answer later to day when their office opens and will post it in here for  you - some that have stayed in the hotel may also know the answer.

The check in time for the Hilton is 3pm, however I have been advised that they should be able to leave their bags there and check in later on as check in goes on till midnight. The transfers to the festival begin at 12:30PM and run until 20:00, then there is a return transfer to the Hotel at 20:30 and then the last coach back is around 30 minutes after the last act ends (approximately 23:15pm)

Thanks a lot Jezebel, that's very useful, specially when I still have to choose the flight.
So, if I buy a RIP package, I will receive the passport directly at my home, and then at the Hotel I can change for the two wristbands, right?
Excuse me for all these dumb questions, it's because I want to have all organized.

Hi Tingo - you are correct, the passport(s) will be sent to your home address and then you exchange a voucher that's in the passport for your wristband - you get one wristband that's your RIP/arena pass combined.
Let us know if there's anything else we can advise on, and welcome to RIP!
