Howard needs back surgery and is out for six months.

Reports that the injury was inflicted by Stan Van Gundy remain unconfirmed.

Apparently, the fist thing he said after the disgrace that was Malice At The Palice (well worth a google for the uninformed)  was: "Are we going to get in trouble for this."

I've been thinking about properly finding an NBA team, given basketball is easily my second favourite team sport. In the past I've followed Lakers and Heat but not really got behind them after every game.

Had a look round on the NBA site and the Brooklyn Nets really intrigue me. Obviously it's an existing franchise (one I've shown little interest in) but the relocation makes things extremely exciting. I love the colour schemes, the look of the new arena, logos and the Jay Z connection, and like my favourite football team, they are owned by a dodgy Russian. Can't go wrong, so here on in, I'm a Brooklyn Nets fan, and I'll take in my first game next year during my visit to New York for Wrestlemania.
                WOAH. HEY. WOAH. HEY.

The owner is mates with Roman I believe. Horrendous front office decisions over the last eighteen months or so have really hurt them and will do so even more in the future when D-Will moves. If I was picking a team right now, id probably go for Utah, best young core in the league right now.

I'm currently catching up with the finals (second quarter G1) NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

Man, it'll suck if they don't get D-Will back. I'm not an expert at stuff with the Nets yet, but he appears to be their best player by a long, long way.

I've heard the general consensus is that with the big rebrand and relocation is that some big trades/free agent signings (Dwight Howard seems to be linked quite a bit, not sure I want given how indecisive he is) are expected at Brooklyn during off-season, so hopefully there will be improvements next year. Not expecting anything big, but I'm certainly liking the new brand, hopefully the management of the team will follow.

They wont be trades as they really don't have anything too trade once D-Will and Brook Lopez leave if neither of them re sign (not sure about Lopez but D-Will is pretty inevitable now) so its down to free agency with all the cap room they will have, and they have already tried to play that game and lost with Lebron, and didn't do enough to entice Melo or Howard to opt in either.

Long season ahead for the Nets.

I think the Nets are a far more attractive proposition at Brooklyn than at New Jersey, though. Nice new arena, brand, a generally nicer environment to play the game in.

I've read little bits of speculation re Dwight Howard and where he wants to be next season but who knows what he is thinking. Continually changing his mind.

Howard and retaining D-Will would be a decent start to a rebuild, though.

Howard has a year left on his contract after ****ing around Orlando and resigning for a year on trade deadline day for another year, and as mentioned the Nets have nothing to offer in trade. They only way they can sign him is if D-Will re signs and wait until next summer, but considering Dallas are his home town team and in a much better place than Nets, that outcome is very unlikely.

Its all well and good being in a big market (which Brooklyn undoubtedly is) but its all about star players and winning in the NBA right now, and the Nets cant guarentee either at the minute.

Yep, I wouldn't expect instant success. Dallas is certainly going to be an attractive proposition for Deron Williams, but I think a big contract offer and the excitement surrounding the big move could turn his head.

Ah didn't realise Howard had re-signed. Is Steve Nash still a free agent? Could be another potential target. Either way I'm not expecting much this season but hopefully some big name free agents become available over the next 3-4 years so a team capable of reaching the play-offs is built.

Nash will be a FA this summer, but he'll be ring chasing at this stage of his career so dont expect anything to happen there either.

Building blocks and shrewd pick ups in FA and free agency is what the Nets need now.

All the haters will talk up the shortened season and how he needed Wade to win, but he has been a a beast this year and even with Durant's continuing improvement, he is now the best in the league with Kobe slowing down.

A big ****ing centre back-up and a strong, atheltic (but undersized) bench SG. Shame they couldn't work a trade up.

I think Sessions and Hill are off unless we can cut the wage bill with Gasol quickly. Will be a big knock. Squad is very light right now.
