Photography

Hey all - I am a Photography student at City of Glasgow college - currently doing my NQ, and next year my HND, then after that a degree.  My aim is to become a Medical Illustrator and have a business of my own on the side doing all kinds of photography.
 
I do Equestrian photography, showjumping, cross country and horse portraits. I have done some street photography, Reportage, people portraits, live gigs, charity events.
 
Last year I did the Boardie Takeover pictures at Download which was a great experience from the actual shooting the bands to seeing my images on the reviews on the Download website I have a facebook page which is in my sig - you can see most of my photos on there and I welcome constructive comments. So feel free to go and take a look at my work

I think I may be applying for your course next year! I have an interview at GSA for Photography on Wednesday but who knows how that will go!

Thanks Robert - is that fine art photography or 35mm photography you are applying to at GSA?  I hear they dont do digital and I really love the darkroom side of my CoG course - will you be applying for the NQ or the HND at CoG

Got myself 600D got the kit lens with it 18-55 and i purchased the 55-250 and an old 35-70 lens from ebay.
 
I like your Kelvingrove bandstand pics you should check out abandoned scotland on youtube kinda similar to what you've got in those pics.

 

I did my reportage unit on Abandoned buildings - got shots of some really old buildings in Lanark, Lanarkshire and Glasgow - trying to get access to an abandoned underground train station in Glasgow at the moment, but need to buy a second set of ladders to get over the metal fence they have erected over the tunnel - watch this space - Im a bit of an Urbex fan - just wish I was brave enough to get into some of these buildings - but I like my life too much to risk it lol

 
Took this while out earlier.First time messing about with lightroom, Still not sure if i'm happy with it.

 

 Is the flower the focus of the image or the bee?  If its the flower just crop out some background as it drags the eye away from the flower before you even notice the bumble bee. If its the bee, crop it in tight to the flower.

hi hevs, some good stuff on your page apesh the black n white stuff v cool.im trying 2 get back 2 more  natural photography as i have spent the last 12 months in photoshop cs5 extended version n maxing everything out with hdr and tilt n shift landscapes n churches.my goal this yr is 2 get a telescope n connect my camera n get pics of galaxies n nebula after a succesfull yr doing timelapse of the milkyway galaxy with a canon 70 200 l series lens.im gona get a f1.7 from jessops ,dohh.

Yeah its easy to get caught up in the Photoshop - I remember when I got CS5 for the first time not long before I started college - I went daft.  Now I have CS6 and just use it for actual editing and effects instead of making everything look psychedelic lol  We do an Image Editing class as part of our course but its very much on effect rather than manipulation and we only did one HDR image last block which was on a very much discreet HDR side but I do love those funky overdone HDR pics - they are awesome  I am shooting a lot of film recently which Im loving cause we have a huge darkroom at college so its handy

Unfortunately been stuck at work all day but I did get to shoot some awesome macro images yesterday at college
