Lock-up 2012 - 14 March 2012 00:29
So now we've got the first chunk of the Line-up, let's start talking about the most important stage. Who do we want to see? Who do you think we'll see on the lock up stage this year?

Bit of a guess/wishlist here from me.

Dropkick Murphys    Bad Brains
Against Me!                         Special Guests (The Gaslight Anthem)
Streetlight Manifesto                       Bouncing Souls
Dan Andriano                                  Protest the Hero
Gorilla Biscuits                                            Strike Anywhere
Chuck Ragan                                              I Am the Avalanche
The Menzingers                                          Off With Their Heads
Sharks                                                       Fake Problems
Dave Hause                                                The Skints
White Wives                                               Crazy Arm
JB Conspiracy                                              Apologies, I have none

Didn't Dropkicks sub Lock Up last year? Also can't see Bad Brains playing such a mainstream festival. Would also suck because the only decent thing about R&L this year is that there is a headliner i'd watch each night (Foo's, The Cure and ATDI) Are The Melvins a possibility? Maybe Alice In Chains could be in as an outside guess. Less Than Jake? The King Blues?

If Streetlight, Gaslight and Protest were there I'd go in but generally punk annoys the **** out of me, so I wouldn't consider this the most important stage at all.

Personally I think lock up should be 1 day of punk and another of metal.

Could see Less Than Jake and Bad Brains headlining with Pennywise, Lagwagon, Mad Caddies, I Am The Avalanche, Classics of Love, Big D & The Kids Table, No Trigger, La Dispute, Ceremony, Above Them and Hildamay playing as well, would absolutely love to see The Lawrence Arms and Propaghandi playing too.

Are Big D & the kids table playing shows again yet? I would love to see La Dispute and Above them in the lock-up.

And yes, it's definitely the most important stage. Maybe 2 days of punk, 1 day of metal, would be a fair compromise. **** the dance tent.

Bolded the one's I've never heard before, the rest I would love. Also suggestions of the bolded ones are welcome

Make Do and Mend, Against Me, Hot Water Music, Rival Schools or H20 possible?

Ok well its not the most important stage in my opinion, and in yours it is. Sorted.

Agreed about the dance tent though, that can do one.

I've been conned into buying a ticket so I'm holding out for some decent bands on the lock up stage. Zebrahead maybe? They tweeted saying they 'may be back in the UK' after Hit The Deck festival but it 'wouldn't be around that date'. Leeds/Reading possibility?

Rancid really are due a performance, although I'm not sure if their Rebellion appearance is a festival exclusive or not.

Mate the other day suggested Transplants, which would be fucking ace.

Who's getting the traditional double slot? Cancer Bats or Gaslight Anthem?

Going to go with Cancer Bats I think, but only because I don't think they'd put Gaslight against Foos.

Would be super happy if less than jake were there. On facebook they said "exciting news very soon!!" ... Many people guessing R&L

Would love zebrahead, streetlight manifesto, suburban legends or new riot.
Fingers crossed :p

I think the dance stage is going to be on the same day as the day with cancer bats on isnt it?

There's barely anything on the Friday for me except 2 bands (Coheed and Angels) so that pleases me.

Read on the Reading forum that apparently the Lock-up is being announced on Mike Davies' show in 2 weeks time.

Fits in rather nicely with what Rancid posted about announcing more UK dates in a few weeks ;)

Yeah, Mike said on his show that he's announcing it in two weeks. ****ing most exciting announcement of the year, for me.

Cannot wait for the Lock-up announement!

I think its a bit strange how saturday main stage is they day that lacks most 'rock' bands and has most indie acts, yet that is they day with the Dance stage.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rancid, Social Distortion, Against Me, The Bronx, Trash Talk and Anti-Flag.

I think it makes it easier for them to sell Saturday day tickets to... the less musically inclined...

Hoping saturdays NME & FR are a bit heavier than usual...

Im hoping for a few heavier acts on the NME, Mastodon would be good because that Saturday just has ATDI and Billy talent for me, Lock up should be good as usual

Best be right about Good Riddence. Rancid and Less Than Jake is my tip to headline.

Less than Jake touring the UK in mid-june makes them unlikely to headline, I would've thought... But who knows.

Checked ticket's last night, although I doubt it's changed since, so far only the Sunday's sold out with Friday, Saturday and Weekend tickets still available. This is for Reading anyway, here's hoping that Sunday's lock up isn't the best of the two.
