Didn't see periphery but caught a lot of Meshuggah - got to say similar opinion - sounded good but not my bag really.
But DTP - yep - 9/10 here too!
Brilliant gig! - would have been 10/10 but they didn't play Life! :-(
Suppose you can't have everything - great show anyway and after seeing them last year at Download (first time - thanks to everyone on here who suggested them!) and being lucky enough to grab a Retinal Circus ticket I will deinately be watching Devin
next month!
just really pissed it clashes with Maiden as I love Seventh Son!
Oh well......
I'm sure Devin will make it all worth it!

Devin Townsend Project/Meshuggah - Brixton Academy - 03/05/13

Periphery - 7/10 Probably the best I've heard them, and Spencer's stage presence is getting better every time I see them

Meshuggah - 3/10 (Probably an unpopular opinion) Not too keen on their music anyway but sound wise they seemed spot on. But my lord they are probably one of the most boring bands I've ever seen. I was on the barrier and I could feel myself drifting off.

Devin Townsend Project - 9/10 Phenomenal performance, the stage show was brilliant and everyone on stage seemed to be having so much fun. I was smiling throughout the whole set. Devin is such a happy chappy!

Not sure who the first band were, only caught a couple of songs
We Butter The Bread With Butter 6/10 - Not really my thing, but not too bad of a show
Hacktivist 9/10 - Another fantastic performance, they just need more material

Motorhead and anthrax.

ANthrax 9/10 always a great live band. Only problem is the set went by to fast.

Motorhead 7/10 not the biggest fan. Found some songs boring, others were really fun.

Eureka Machines - The Borderline, London - 04/05/13

Deadwardians - 8/10 Excellent debut gig from this band. Will look forward to when they start releasing music.
The Loyalties - 8/10 First time seeing The Loyalties. Really enjoyed their set.
Eureka Machines 9/10 An almost perfect set from Eureka Machines. Lacking just one song from it to make it perfect for me, but the performance was flawless. The band were on fire and the crowd was great!

I think it was The Damned, months ago.
It was a great gig though. They didn't play they regular set, it was slightly more psychedelic, which was cool.
I would have liked to hear more of their classics, but it was still very good.

Bring Me The Horizon - Manchester Academy 2 - 29/04/13

Empress - 4/10 - Bored me, every song sounded identical.

Crossfaith - 8/10 - Fantastic energy, crowd loved it, shall definitely be seeing them again at Warped.

Bring Me The Horizon - 9/10 - The new songs really sound amazing live and Oli's voice seems to have improved dramatically. Really should be playing much bigger rooms next time they tour.

Killswitch Engage - HMV Ritz, Manchester - 2nd May 2013.

Sylosis - 8/10 - Had heard of these guys before but never listened to them, they were superb, definitely gonna listen to the albums now.

Killswitch Engage - 9/10 - Absolutely immense, the band were on serious form and Jesse was sounding awesome, new songs sounded great live too, only 1 song being included would've made the set near-perfect, but was still great.

Enter Skikari - Roadmender, Northampton

Tu Amore (think that was their name) - 6/10 - Quite liked the sound of them, need to check them out properly

Hacktivist - 9/10 - Brilliant performance, really got the crowd going (which has left me with a black eye), just wish they could have played longer

Enter Shikari - 10/10 - Think this is the best I have ever seen them, really on form, fantastic performance

Rammstein - Barcelona! 9/10 - That was my 6th time seeing them and loved every minute of it! Just a shame it was almost half an hour shorter than the tour last year, so it did go by rather quick.

So can't wait to see them again at Download though :D

Rammstein - 9/10 - Almost perfect, just the setlist was about 4 songs shorter than the last tour, but at least in Barcelona we got an Exclusive performance of Rammsteim (The song has yet to appear in the setlist a second time).

Hit the Deck, Nottingham Sunday 21st April

Dingus Khan - 7/10 - Enjoyable little set by an odd wee band. They were short a couple members because of the lack of space on stage, but they still had 2 bassists, 3 drummers and a guy playing the electric ukelele! Frontman is clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic! But good songs, and a good laugh.

Mallory Knox - 8.5/10 - Set seemed awful short! But they seemed to be digging it, and the singer is top notch. Crowd were very into it as well, all contributed to a good half hour or so. These guys are capable of going onto big things.

Hand of Mercy - 7/10 - They only really get a couple of points taken off as the sound was quite messy in the venue for this one. But they were really going for it, breakdown-tastic! Will try and catch these guys again for sure.

Maybeshewill - 10/10 - Absolutely blown away by these guys. Great tunes, really into it, great sound in the Rescue Rooms, it all just kinda came together. Superb.

Feed the Rhino - 8/10 - just doing what FtR do. I don't really like them on record, but they are just so intense live, it's hard not to get caught up with them.

Stick To Your Guns - 6/10 - crowd was full of irritating hardcore fannies, who were even windmilling their arms and spin kicking when there was no music playing. Which was A LOT. If the vocalist had just shut his piehole and played more songs, they'd have gotten a higher rating.

Bleed From Within - 8/10 - Best time I've seen them. New stuff actually sounded really good, and I didn't really like it on record. Good stuff.

Bleeding Through - 9/10 - Savage. The big lad up front, Brendan Schiepatti was really, really going for it. Last ever performance in the UK, and they made it a bloody memorable one. Was a shame they had such a small crowd, though.

All in all, a great little day. Will be back next year

Saxon at 02 ABC in Glasgow 21/4/13. Truth be told, I was there only for the Quireboys and they put on one hell of a show, as always. Redline, the first support band were a solid little act and from what I saw of Saxon, they were rather good. Mainly just chatted, hung out at the bar and had to leave early. Overall - 8/10.

Pure Love - 8/10

-1 point for kicking me in the nose whilst crowd surfing with his guitar and bruising it
-1 point because their music is good, but not amazing

But they get 8 points for putting on one of the best shows I've ever seen live ever (apart from Green Day) Drum kit in the middle of the crowd, Frank Carter singing in the crowd and generally being a c*nt to people which is hilarious. The circle pit running around the drum kit and the guitarist managing to successfully play solos whilst being on top of a crowd of people lay on his back. Fun gig!

Meatloaf - Cardiff Motorpoint Arena 9/10

It's well documented that Meatloaf's 65 year old voice can't do what it once did, but then if you want musical perfection go listen to the cd! Some of his notes were a bit hit and miss here and there as expected (and he doesn't help himself in some ways - he's always had a tendency to get a bit 'shouty' occasionally live), but it certainly wasn't consistently off or anything, and it really didn't matter. You just can't possibly fault his passion and commitment to what he's doing, and he absolutely gave his all (and, once they'd warmed up in the second half in particular, the crowd certainly responded to that). The band (including Danny Miranda on the bass, which I hadn't realised beforehand, and was an extra bonus) were absolutely spot on from beginning to end, and the music had the life and energy that it should have (I was concerned about the potential for some of it to have become a bit 'cabaret' in performance, but it didn't at all). The first half of 'hits' might not have been my choice of 'perfect' set list (no 'Midnight at the Lost And Found' or 'Modern Girl', for example), but it was still excellent (and his voice understandably coped better with some of the newer stuff), and the second half beginning to end rendition of the Bat Out Of Hell album was just superb (with an absolutely storming version of the title track being the highlight of the gig, although only just - All Revved Up and Paradise By The Dashboard Light in particular were also right up there). I was worried about how the voice issues might effect the whole picture, and even more so when I saw how unwell he seemed to look at the start, but I really needn't have been (and by the end he actually looked much happier and healthier, as well as sweatier!). He doesn't sing quite as he once did, but he certainly doesn't sound bad at all most of the time, and he still knows how to put on a great show and give himself over to it 100%!
