Thanks for sharing.

____________________
George Alarcon

Re: RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (luckyrayenz)

My best friend, whom is a big fan of Emilie Autumn, he was able to get a book to me. I have not read yet, but in absolute love with her. I'm not sure if you like it interesting, or if you like because he wrote it, and Emily partially biased towards liking it. I mean, Emily, and music is superb. It is a beautiful singer, absolutely. I'm just not sure if my personality and allow me to like this book as much as anyone else. Undoubtedly, it's intelligent and talented person. I am reluctant to just about this subject. I mean, I do not want the idea of marriage to resort to sound so ... Normal for me.
I do not know. I think I will not even give it a chance. I say this, although this book is heavy and big as hell.

Re: RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Aristara)

Labmonkey

I'd really like to read this, but it just seems to cost so much! Not likely to be able to get it from a library am I?

Highly doubt it would be, let alone I doubt it would be suitable to even be in a library.

I'd say the book itself is kind of like an Anne Frank kind of thing except it has 2 stories in it, Emilie going through this messed up health care system, and then a story about Emily (with a 'y') which I'm told is what her performance is supposed to be about when shes on stage and most of the music, so really if you read the book you'd understand the music and performance better.

I already checked ebay for it, nothing on there apart from tour tickets and albums. I think the only way to get it is directly through her online shop on her official site. http://www.emilieautumn.com/

Which then usually links you to Mamstore and it was £38 for me on there, book is £35 and £3 postage. Feel free to post some more links if you find it elsewhere though.
Re: RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Labmonkey)

I'd really like to read this, but it just seems to cost so much! When she put the new release on sale. I missed the first one (cause it was a bit complicated to get one by the time) and I'm not sure if she will sell the book again. After all - nothing can compare to the real book. But I just wanted to see something from the book (not the entire book) while I'm waiting.
Re: RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Aristara)

sinister

I don't understand why it's so difficult to scan the entire book. I know - people pay money but come on! If you buy a book - you don't mind giving it to your friend to read, but when it comes to scanning...

There's 266 A4 size pages, I don't think people could be arsed to do it, plus they would be really awkward to scan in because the book is so heavy, probably end up breaking the book trying to bend the pages down so much which would be a waste of money as it's pretty expensive for a book, I got mine for £38 from Mamstore.

If you wanted the book that much you would buy it and support EA by doing so.

*points* not tru muffin.
Re: RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (sinister)

I don't understand why it's so difficult to scan the entire book. It's about Emilie in the American health care system, from what I've read so far shes had to put up with some fucked up stuff, for example she was only allowed to use crayons because letting her use pens is against the law.

And then there's a Victorian story, I dunno if its true or not but its pretty sick in a way but saddening and somewhat scary, I got a bit of an adrenaline rush from it. But it could actually be true. And it's likely Victorians were really sick like that back then, I wont spoil it for you but it's a bloody good read. It totally gives you a different look on life, I love it. I thought it was going to be utterly crap but it's actually really good, it's rare I like such things.

The only thing I struggle with is to read some of the handwriting because it's like proper Victorian handwriting, the pictures are well... you have to see for yourself. [8D]

But yeah, I think for nearly £40 spent it wasn't a waste of money, pretty good buy actually.

RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (polythenegirl)

Let us know how it is - I might give it a go, but woudl like some reviews on it first

RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Katt)

So its finally out, this has been so long in the works I'd forgotten about it [8D]
Didn't realise it was partly autobiographical though, I thought it was just a fantasy type thing to fit with her stage show, though I'm guessing the 'reality' will be embellished & reworked with her normal flair and imagery? Should be good
I have no doubt every page is gorgeous...but price might hold me back for a bit. Let us know how it is!

RE: Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Metalhed07)

I used to be on her Forum, but haven't been on in ages. She's delicious looking.

1000th post

Emilie Autumn - The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls Book (Aristara)

Thought I'd post about it, seems interesting and kind of nice.
Does anyone have it yet? I just bought it for around £38 quid:

http://www.mamstore.co.uk/bin/pxisapi1.exe/large?item=801395

I'm still waiting for it to arrive, should be here either tomorrow or the day after. It's basically about EA and her time in some mental asylum and stuff that had gone on, and some extra stuff like how to make muffins and such. [8D]

"Presenting Emilie Autumn's long awaited autobiographical, reality-bending thriller, "The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls." This beautifully bound hardcover volume measures 8" x 11.5" and clocks in at a massive 274 fully illustrated pages. Positively packed with hand-written memoirs, photos, and paintings, this profoundly empowering epic not only deserves a place on your tea table, it is also one of the most complete accounts of bipolar disorder ever penned, and will take readers behind the doors of both modern day psych ward and Victorian insane asylum in this true life horror tale of madness, murder, and medical experimentation. But reader beware: It's much easier to get into the Asylum than it is to get out."

I wouldn't think many people on here would like EA at all really but when the tour thread came up here a few weeks ago I was pretty surprised. ^^
