Formed from the ashes of Fatal Taunt whose own work had previously earned support slots with Glamour Of The Kill and Malefice, immediate work began on gigs in mid 2009 using the best of the Taunt material with the intention of working on new material to add in. This was done over the course of 2009 and they finally entered the studio in early 2010 for what was to become the "Children Of A Lesser God" EP. Support slots with Forever Never, Marseille and Panic Cell followed.

2010 saw line up changes but by the start of 2011 the jigsaw was complete and the Lineup is now:

New songs swiftly added some much needed intensity and gig wise saw them earn slots opening for Brazilian legends Sepultura, win the Welsh International BOTB's, get to the final of Hard Rock Hells' Highway To Hell 2 in Glasgow, and finished up in December playing main support to Darkest Hour.

Counterhold are in their strongest position yet and are making 2012 the most successful so far. Gigs with Blaze Bailey, Mortad, Seven Deadly, Diamond Head, Evil Scarecrow and an appearance at Wakefield's Rock n Wrestle Festival are already confirmed. Headline shows are being booked all over the UK with an album recording making good progress. Waging War On Silence is the mantra with an Egos Down, Horns Up approach to shows that has seen them earn fans from all over the world!
