Brutal C&C on my photography site 02 July 2012 13:00 (permalink)
[Helpful answer received] / [List Solutions Only]
I'm new to this, but I'd appreciate honest C&C on my photography, and the site itself.

I am self taught, both in the world of photography, and web design. I would love to make the step up from hobby togger. I'm just looking for more chances to practice the skills needed.

Hi there and welcome to the forums

I love the layout of your site - I need a website for my photography cause I only have a facebook page and its not ideal. Im a student at City of Glasgow, just done my NQ and going back for my HND this year then to degree level.  I will have a browse over your website later, but at a quick glance looks good - popping out right now lol

I'm not going to comment on your photos, just your site.

There isn't any consistency to it, Its just a load of random stuff all slapped together. Get rid of all the clutter, especialy the stupid view counter thing in the bottom. Web design is like photography, your page needs to be visually balanced and nice too look at. At this moment in time your site looks terrible.

If its your first attempt at a website you shouldnt feel bad, but I would recomend that you start again from scratch.

Go onto the Designs and interfaces section of Deviantart.com and look at some layouts for photography sites. I recomend you find one that looks good and then try to immitate it.

Thanks stgodd. That's the type of feedback I was looking for. The website is my first attempt, as you probably guessed at first glance.

I already had a feeling someone was going to pick up certain things as I was a little unsure of them myself.

I would still like C&C from others too. I'm a big boy and can take it on the chin (as long as it's constructive)

Stgodd is right, the design itself needs an overhaul. The background is too plain with that dull grey and the appearance of the site doesn't really feel like "Professional photographer I want to hire".
