Yeah, doubtful they'd sub but in terms of live draw they're currently bigger than the likes of Korn, Deftones & Stone Temple Pilots, all of whom have subbed in recent year. Realistically at Download 2013 I'd put them 3rd.

'Knotfest Friday' would be no different to AC/DC having their own stage and it basically being an AC/DC Friday.

Download Festival "featuring 1st ever UK Knotfest". Huge seller.

How would it be a big seller? The bands playing 'Knotfest' would be exactly the same bands you'd expect to see playign Download on any other day. The AC/DC day brought something you'd never expect to see at a UK festival: AC/DC. I can't imagine why people would be more likely to stump for a ticket just to see regular Download bands, with the only difference being that someon had given the day a name that made it sound like a DVD compilation of beastiality clips.

at first i was all for the knotfest idea but after reading some of the comments most people are right in saying it wouldnt really be any different from any other download day lol so wouldnt make any difference really appart from the quirky name of it all

Knotfest being at Download would make Knotfest famous, but would do NOTHING for Download overall. I doubt anybody but Slipknot fans know what Knotfest is, whereas most rock fans have heard of Ozzfest.

My only question is who promotes knotfest? Is it LN?
 
it doesnt seem to make sense why download would agree to it, cant see they get much. But if LN have wider interests in Knotfest it might make sense to LN as a whole. 
 
Regardless i can see it being marketed both ways - Slipknot say they are brining Knotfest to Download, but Download barely mention it, especially on posters etc. Didnt Cruefest do something similar.

Personally, I think that announcements are coming this week.
 
It would make no sense whatsoever to end early bird unless an announcement was imminent. Presently, you can't buy a ticket for Download 2013. How long will Live Nation want that scenario to last ? Not too long would be my guess!

Actually hadn't even thought of that despite only the headliners being announced before Christmas in the previous 2 years [:/]
 
The 4th announcement has been getting earlier though (January 24th 2011 and January 16th 2012) so maybe even earlier for 2013?

Nova Rock announced it's dates today for 2013, same weekend as Download and likely sharing a headliner or two as usual.  So any bands possibly delaying the announcement as they are wanting to sort out their whole summer beforehand might not last too long.

I just think that taking tickets off-sale makes no sense without an imminent announcement. You can't actually buy a ticket for Download 2013!
