I mentioned in a couple of threads that once i'd heard these i'd tell y'all what i thought. Well, first impressions, not good. To my ears there is little difference to the spider II, other than the obvious addition of all the presets... Which aren't great. I tend to find with Line6 amps, that at low volumes most of it sounds pretty good, but really can't cut it once you start climbing in volume. These pretty much follow that rule. The lower gain and crunchy settings I quite like, there are some good Brown Sugar, Johnny B Goode etc settings, but as is usually the case, the high gain sounds are A- nothing like what they are meant to be reproducing and B - awfully muddy and the clean sounds, also as usual, are all completely covered in effects and sound very 80's, reverb, chorus, delay and compression galore. Yeah, so all in all, not a fan. I'll play them a bit more over the next few days when i get the chance and see how i grow to them, but at the moment, i'd say if you like Line6 gear, you be as well going with the spider II, cause i don't feel the presets are adding anything significant, unless you absolutely NEED the savable presets. Better yet, if you like Line6 go with the flextone range, which are waaaay better, and have good recreations of real amps, as opposed to the generic in between settings that the spiders use to try to cater to all tastes at once.
