People should put on more small festivals full of emerging UK bands. Aswell as a couple of well known bands.

The idea of a tour of Brit bands is excellent. We are already organising a mini tour for next year with LIFER, LAZARUS BLACKSTAR, DRUGANAUT, VALLENFYRE and CAVORTS, and we're planning to have a limited compilation CD to advertise it with too, as well as a combined merch catalogue as well to help raise the funds for it! 
 
Someone mentioned Jaegermaester earlier too, and they are offering promotional help for up and coming bands (although you need to put their logo on all your merch etc!). 

Theres not really many bands getting big in the metal world anymore.. whats going on? you don't hear or see anything, nothing really going on the underground and scenes. You get a lot of punk-infused diy scene stuff, like the guys on brew records, which is good. But not a lot of activity in the metal world..

X FACTOR and plastic created big buck acts are what's going on buddy. If the music industry had been like this in the 60's, there would have never been a Led Zep, Sabbath, Deep Purple etc... they''d just be playing pubs to their mates!
 
I agree with what HullhellHalifax said earlier in the thread, and that is that the reason UK Metal/ Metalcore/Thrash and Punk bands are not widely reported on is because the media think nobody wants to hear about them! 
We as a group of fans need to start ASKING for news on these bands and what they are up to! If they sniff a readership and interest, then they'll print it! So start emailing them! 
 
Also, don't forget to do the same with the smaller fanzines too. If you hear of a band you like, start lookng through underground press for them, as often the larger press read these too !
