Bio
Oxford based King Furnace have built up a reputation for their energetic and entertaining live shows, impressing with their spiky, melodic, twisted, proggy, alternative pop rock…

In 2006 and 2007 King Furnace completed several tours of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. They received rave reviews and airplay for their debut single ‘Crash’ released through cult Oxford label ‘Akuaba Records’ (available on iTunes) and were featured in Computer Arts and Devolution Magazine. King Furnace were also commissioned to provide the soundtrack for Sky TV’s coverage of the ‘Eurodrift’ Driftcar Racing Series.

In 2008 the band are building up a head of steam, generating more airplay, industry interest and high-profile gigs, including a headline slot at the 3000 capacity Y-Not Festival in Derbyshire and the Oxford Punt Festival. The band has also been nominated this year for an Indy Award in the ‘Best Rock Artist’ category. Their fantastic ‘Anatomy’ music video was shot at Shepperton Studios and is currently being finalised at the award winning Sequence Post-Productions at Pinewood Studios. King Furnace will be releasing and touring two more singles before they release their debut album in autumn.

Reviews
"Thank heaven for King Furnace." - www.oxfordbands.com

"Charged, melodic and talented stuff." - BBC Oxford

"They're from Oxford, they sound like XTC meets blues rock and they make me dance all funny-like. How can that possibly be bad!?" - Black Listed website

"There are many bands out there vying for your attention but I would recommend you try King Furnace as they have an eclectic style, rather than just another Coldplay/Arctic Monkeys clone. **** "- www.getreadytorock.com

"Now HERE'S something a little out of the ordinary -.... 'Crash' is a jerky, poppy, funky, fun ride, with rubbery bass and lubberly guitar." - www.playlouder.com

"debut single 'Crash' is finally unleashed on the world, and what a single it is. The most important point is it's one of those amazing indie-dance tracks that makes it hard for you to sit down for any longer than 5 seconds. And with some added ska and funk thrown in for good measure, its got potential to be a huge hit. All you have to do now, is tell all your friends so when King Furnace hit the big time, you can get all the credit. Rating: 4/5" - www.rockmidgets.com

"Wired, weird and jam packed full of frantic energy - that's King Furnace in a nutshell." www.ukmusicsearch.co.uk

"Combining guitary trills, loud thumpy bass parts and vocals that certainly stand out in out indie fuelled world. King Furnace are certainly a band that need to be watched in the future, I think they could be big. The music is the kind that makes you want to put on your best rock clothes and dance around the nearest available area such as your bedroom, workplace or local corner shop." www.optimumimpact.co.uk

"The revelation was King Furnace. If you remember the rhythmic jerks of The Knack’s My Sharona then it might give you an idea of King Furnace’s style. They are just so tight musically that it’s shocking. Not a note or a percussive hit out of place. And the nervous energy of the singer was a wonder to behold. The music is a sort of alt-funk-rock, perfect for jerking around to. When it is delivered with such verve and confidence in a dark club, you realise you are in the presence of something special". www.coolnoise.co.uk

RE: King Furnace 02 September 2008 13:49 (permalink)
King Furnace + Intraverse + I Am Thieves at the Port Mahon

    Date:Friday, September 19, 2008

    Time:8:00pm - 11:30pm

    Location:The Port Mahon

    Street:St Clements
    City/Town:Oxford, United Kingdom

A night of proto-prog-pop-rock for the princely sum of £4 or £3 in advance, available here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/34549

King Furnace - “KING FURNACE rock. They rock in a spiky, impassioned, hook-laden and highly-charged fashion, tearing up blues, metal, funk, pop and prog into a hairy old hellraising party, and if you can’t swing your pants to that, you dead, bro’” – Nightshift Magazine

Intraverse - "Intraverse comprise of four young, highly talented musicians who bring together in their music a unique blend of raw rock driven by funk grooves and twisted ambience, an abundance of passion, energy and charisma. The result is one of the most truly entertaining performances you're ever likely to see, with the catchy songs to boot."

I Am Thieves - "I Am Thieves are mathematically and musically a sound structure. Pounding drums, desperate bass lines and elegant guitars lay the foundation for thick vocal harmonies and dark lyricism, resulting in a twisted pop sound that owes as much to the proto-slam poetry edge of Will Smith, as it does to the genre mashing of Faith No More."

    Brain-melting funs!
