Went for the first time this year and definitely the best festival I've been to, already booked for next year. Didn't enjoy Sabaton when I seen them with Alestorm but Kataklysm, Heathen and Korpiklaani is an excellent announcement for me. Hoping for Soilwork, Gojira, Behemoth, Amon Amarth and Exodus next year.

So Pain and Amon Amarth got added. Really happy with AA but never listened to Pain, would rather have had Hypocrisy than Pain but maybe Peter can do two sets.

Never been but been interested in it for a couple of years. Can someone tell me how easy it is to get there and what sort of travel costs we are looking at. Also interested in what facilities they have there and food drink availability and cost.

Also interested in what facilities they have there and food drink availability and cost. It is a great festival. We did a road trip from Amsterdam in 2008, but took the tourist route. Tolmin is a reasonable size town and has a couple of supermarkets, a couple of hotels (not too flash, but comfortable enough), chemist, etc and is only a 10-15 minute walk from the festival site. The year i went festival food was average and not many selections, I am not sure if they have addressed that since. Festival drinks to me seemed reasonable in price and they also did a selection of cocktails as standard..... Long Island Iced teas and others The scenery is amazing as it is up in the slovenian alps. We went white water rafting while we were there and also did a morning trip up to Lake Bled. Talk to Carrie (Jezebel) She has done it a few times, both flying into Italy and driving from the UK.
  RIP 2008 .........RIP2010......... RIP 2012

Just eat Pizza! it was 3 Euros for (in festival terms) a massive slice. Actually, price wise it was very reasonable, and there was a little shop across the road from the camp site. It looks like this year though they have there own little 'village shop' on site. And the scenery is outstanding. I also have to thank Carrie, Phil, Rachele and Rob for their generosity of carting me around the country. There are some very moving sights in Slovenia. If you hire a car to get around just remember that the white lines in the middle of the road are there for guidance.. Rarely are they obeyed..

There's two supermarkets within 10minutes of the campsite where you can buy anything you need, one resembles a Tesco and another is more like Lidl. It's all cheap though so no point in taking anything like that with you. I can only remember the price of a couple things but for example, a 700ml bottle of vodka was 8euro and it was much nicer than any vodka I've ever had over here. The facilities on site are pretty good. There are hot showers which cost a couple of euro or there are cold showers for free which are the most refreshing things to wake up to. Either that or you can wash in the river with environmentally friendly soap/shampoo. The toilets are portaloos which are cleaned twice a day so they never get in too bad condition. Didn't buy much festival food, it was nice enough when we did though, prices weren't much lower than over here but the food was a bit better. People seemed to be saying it was far better/cheaper in previous years though. They did have a supermarket in the campsite which was handy, beer for a euro, cheap fruit etc but considering the big supermarkets were only an extra 5 minutes away we usually just went there. As for travel, we flew last year to Ljubljana and it was just under £100 but this year we're flying to Trieste because it worked out cheaper and cost us £160 and that was with booking much earlier on, pretty gutting the prices went up so much. If you need any information on travelling from Ljub airport just ask. Can also echo the scenery comments, there is a lot to keep busy with during the day and since the days don't start until 3 or 4 you can spend the day doing a whole number of things ie paragliding/rafting/kayaking/sight seeing/beach

Yeap gutted we are not going this year... :( We have gone a few ways - flew to Trieste and hired an RV in Italy but they have metal taxi from there to Tolmin - check their forums for info on that. We also fly to Munich one year and hired a car and drove down.... Stayed in a Hotel in Tolmin that year - Hotel is ok. Last year we drove from the UK and camped. Facilities are ok - nothing like the bigger festivals and shops are limited and no entertainment other than the beach bar music and strippers.. No disabled facilities at all. Love the festival and country tho. Will hopefully be back next year.
