I was wondering what your most loved/most hated poets are and why? Essentially I'm just looking for more things to read, so the lesser known, the better.
Here are mine: Most loved:
E. E. Cummings - Disjointed style, feels like his poems are a blurry collection of thoughts.
E. A. Poe - Tends to be morbid and over-dramatic...somehow likeable.
O. Wilde - Generally one of the most amazing writers ever, in my opinion.
C. Bukowski - Pretty plain and blunt about everything. Makes a nice, distinct change from most poetry.
S. Heaney - Love his poems based on family. Always admired close-knit families. Most hated:
C. A. Duffy - Just - Argh! As much as I love her take on fairytales and myths, her opinions and views just wind me up. She's also really dull if you've ever heard her do a live reading.
W. Blake - No real explanation. Just don't particularly like his work. At all.
I realise this may be a long shot seeing as poetry doesn't seem all that popular nowadays, but hey. Worth a try. XD
