My first DL. SYL absolutely killed it and owned that weekend. GN'R were cracking too once they'd got the sound/stage issues sorted out and Axl calmed down a bit. The whole of MOP getting played on the Saturday night was a bit of a special surprise too.
Cheap rizlas hidden in our collars, Yeah ready for some action. That's the way it was then.

2006 at download was my first EVER festival and it couldnt have gone any better....it was one of the best times ive ever had in my life and i supose its kidna like drugs for me, the first time you do it is the best and then every other time you do it your just trying to relive that high but you never quite get there again.... even the train journey there was imense just listening to tune and getting mentally ready, pitched tent and went off for some entertainment one of my first memories is that on one of the nights before there was any bands..possibly thursday there was a BURLESQUE show in one of the tents which was pretty awesome to say the least, met plenty of cool people around and had a great time only annoying factor was there was some massive socttish guy camped near us who snored SO ****ing loud the whole time BUT we didnt exactly sleep much anyways so not a major concern, the weather was amazing all weekend and for my first festival couldnt have hoped for any better, i remember on the friday watching Wicked Wisdom (will smiths wifes band) and he was on the side of the stage and we were all singing along to fresh princes summertime in between every song (great times), i can remember Soil and singing along to Halo, we then went to see my friends fave band ever and the main reason he wanted to go "Fishbone" who were ****ING AMAZING, really great live performance and as we were walking out some guy who we got chatting to gave us a heads up that Phil Anselmos band Down were supposed to be playing a secret set the next morning (which was very useful) Tool on the friday night were amazing, was blown away by them, deftones bored me however, the saturday we made sure we was at mainstage straight away and low and behold the guy's info was right there was Down and there was Phil at his angry confrontational best demanding perfection form his audience..AMAZING, other memories of the saturday was watching the big england match on the big screen and the sun killing us whilst it happened..didnt watch it all though as i was eager to go and see Alice In Chains play with thier new singer which was soo good, as a huge AIC fan i lapped up every second of it, and seeing stone sour was pretty awesome as first time i ever saw corey taylor live, i remember seeing Korn-eoke which was interesting and not bad an a very eventful way to see korn for the first time, and Metallica Playing MOP in its entirety was something to behold, sunday was pretty good as my friend was a massive skindred fan from the get go so recommended i go watch them with him and ive been hooked on skindred and thier live show since 2006's download, we then legged it to see prodigy and got a fairly good place in the tent and it was one of THE BEST live atmospheres ive experienced, they ripped that stage a new one, crowd and tent was heaving and bouncing, people climping the big metal poles etc in the middle of the tent, just a crazy time, i left them about 2 songs form the end to get a good place for GNR as im a massive guns fan adn im glad i did as download is like one of the only times Guns have been early for an appearence. i thought they did great under tricky circumstances...crowd was very hostile and idiots chanting for slash isnt gonna result in a great show, you cant do that to purposly P*** the guy off and then moan when he gets annoyed etc, but i thought from november rain onwards they won the crowd over and it was pretty awesome to see the tide shift form loads of boos before to everyone lapping it up after..and seeing axl and izzy share the stage again was special, the riots on the sudnay night were interesting aswel, i still really wish download had the setup/layout/positioning it had then on the site as it just resulted and contributed to a much better time for me..i know its not possible tho. also the pub we walked to every morning was a bit of trek BUT so worth it..still one of the best english breakfests ever and sitting in there every morning with a nice ICE COLD coke (to battle against the dryness of the previous nights drunknesness) went down a storm, and this post isnt even a quarter of the memorie si have of that great festival....so imagine how long it would be if i jotted everything down,
WhY So SeRiOuS? With your bitch slap rappin' And your cocaine tongue You get nuthin' done!!! Where's Your Will To Be Wierd?

2006 was my first ever festival too. There aren’t enough words to describe how immense the experience was. Almost like releasing an animal back into the wild. It’s kept me going back every year since.
Today I am dirty - tomorrow I'll be just dirt.

I just remember the heat! and the women going around giving out Snickers bars, even though they had melted.
